Dealer repairs

Q: hi folks it might just be a jersey thing but here it goes. i had a 1998 ram 1500. once the wiper delay stopped working. i had off and steady but nothing in delay off. i took it to the local dealer which id love to say the name but id probably be sued or something. the first day they couldnt get to it. the second day they told me i needed new safety belts and they needed to drop the fuel tank. yes it was the same truck. i neede the truck to drive home. fiddling around i found a connector behind the ash tray that was coming apart. i snapped it back together all fixed permenantly. i never went back. now my 2001 dakota. the battery went bad - totally - after a few months from new. i put in this old scroungy acid soaked boat battery with drilled posts in the new truck to drive it. it took another dealer not the same as above 2 days to schedule in a battery test. then they tested my boat battery not the new one sitting in the truck. they told me ..the batterys good... i said to check the new battery on the floor. they later confirmed it was dead. 2 days waiting. these are shortened versions without the details which id love to share with you. i do like this these trucks. i think theyre good overall but im apalled with the dealers repair apathy. i cant believe they cant find these simple problems especially with the battery! i sometimes think it might be contempt with chrysler going out of the country or something. or maybe just a new jersey thing. it would only take a minute or two to test this battery as it was already out of the truck! i have more stories of the second dealer but ill spare you the time. thanks! take care! harry .

you have to remember that what you say to the service rep is not what is written down and is not what the mechanic interprets it as. the best thing to do is have them read back what they wrote so you know it can be understood or show them the problem. some people are just idiots and cannot do any better. dealer which id love to say the name but id probably be sued or you wont get sued. who was it .

sounds like same incompent dealer different city. the incompetent ignoramus of a dealership in houston is tommie vaughn ford. parts is the only worthwhile department. the body shop and service are beyond a joke with the gm not having a clue if you went to toys-r-us bought the milton bradley game off of the shelf drove to their location and handed it to him in person. then asked if he had a clue his reply would be whats a clue now thats incompetence!! avoid them like the plague cause youre better off with any std than dealing with them. the advantage being the std quits eating when your flesh dies!!! just my .02 or maybe .02.5 hi folks it might just be a jersey thing but here it goes. i had a 1998 ram 1500. once the wiper delay stopped working. i had off and steady but nothing in delay off. i took it to the local dealer which id love to say the name but id probably be sued or something. the first day they couldnt get to it. the second day they told me i needed new safety belts and they needed to drop the fuel tank. yes it was the same truck. i neede the truck to drive home. fiddling around i found a connector behind the ash tray that was coming apart. i snapped it back together all fixed permenantly. i never went back. now my 2001 dakota. the battery went bad - totally - after a few months from new. i put in this old scroungy acid soaked boat battery with drilled posts in the new truck to drive it. it took another dealer not the same as above 2 days to schedule in a battery test. then they tested my boat battery not the new one sitting in the truck. they told me ..the batterys good... i said to check the new battery on the floor. they later confirmed it was dead. 2 days waiting. these are shortened versions without the details which id love to share with you. i do like this these trucks. i think theyre good overall but im apalled with the dealers repair apathy. i cant believe they cant find these simple problems especially with the battery! i sometimes think it might be contempt with chrysler going out of the country or something. or maybe just a new jersey thing. it would only take a minute or two to test this battery as it was already out of the truck! i have more stories of the second dealer but ill spare you the time. thanks! take care! harry .

i have always thought that service technicians are taught to reply to all warranty problems with one of three comments 1. thats normal they all do that. 2. what noise i dont hear a noise 3. you got a bad tank of gas. i have had one or more of these responses about 90 percent of the time that i take a car in for warranty work. i used to own mercedes and they were different for a while but my last one a 95 300e i would get the same three responses. dddd denny wrote denny wrote sometimes it absolutely amazes me what some peoples perception is. there are at least three ideas in this fellows post that are out in left field. denny these arent ideas these are my opinions formed over the last 10 years of putting up with incompetent dealer technicians. i have found that the best way to get a dealers service departfment to fix something is to tell them what to do and how to do it. jam 10 years isnt a whole lot of experience. i think you need to find a different dealer and then get to know a tech one that you request every time you go in. talk to this tech when you drop off the vehicle leave a note on the seat if you have to about what you need done. leave him a phone number so he can call you direct if he needs more info. this saves a possibility of mis-communication between you the advisor and the tech. believe it or not most techs do want to get your car fixed the first time when its under warranty so you may come back when the warranty is up. denny ive been to three dealers in my area pittsburgh and get the same treatment. i have talked to the technicians face to face and nose to nose. i have never had a warranty repair fixed the first time. ive been told repeatedly that they could not find a problem or that the problem was the nature of the beast and was not a problem. the only way i could get the problem fixed was to look it up my self and then tell the technician what to do. i guess things are just different in pittsburgh than over here in ohio. sorry i couldnt help you out any. either you have a bunch of bad dealers over there or its just you. what did you do copy and paste or retype the whole spiel denny i had a 94 dakota that went over 15000 miles before the automatic transmission craped out. it was the best vehicle i have ever owned. i traded it in for a 2002 dakota that is the worst vehicle i have ever owned. it cost dalmer/chrysler $6000 to settle the lemon law suit i filed. they gave me the money to go away and stop complaining about the pos. i just spent my saturday morning replacing the blower motor resistors. ive already replaced a ball joint and tie rod end and now the other side need replaced. anyone know where i can get the equipment the flash the pcm and fix the low idle and stalling problem with the 4.7l v8 the factory technicians refused to do it because they didnt have a tsb to tell them what to do thats why i filed the lemon law suit. i have been driving dodges plymouths and chryslers for over 30 years and over 500000 miles. i will never buy another one! jam .

harry wrote hi folks it might just be a jersey thing but here it goes. i had a 1998 ram 1500. once the wiper delay stopped working. i had off and steady but nothing in delay off. i took it to the local dealer which id love to say the name but id probably be sued or something. the first day they couldnt get to it. the second day they told me i needed new safety belts and they needed to drop the fuel tank. yes it was the same truck. i neede the truck to drive home. fiddling around i found a connector behind the ash tray that was coming apart. i snapped it back together all fixed permenantly. i never went back. now my 2001 dakota. the battery went bad - totally - after a few months from new. i put in this old scroungy acid soaked boat battery with drilled posts in the new truck to drive it. it took another dealer not the same as above 2 days to schedule in a battery test. then they tested my boat battery not the new one sitting in the truck. they told me ..the batterys good... i said to check the new battery on the floor. they later confirmed it was dead. 2 days waiting. these are shortened versions without the details which id love to share with you. i do like this these trucks. i think theyre good overall but im apalled with the dealers repair apathy. i cant believe they cant find these simple problems especially with the battery! i sometimes think it might be contempt with chrysler going out of the country or something. or maybe just a new jersey thing. it would only take a minute or two to test this battery as it was already out of the truck! i have more stories of the second dealer but ill spare you the time. thanks! take care! harry i wouldnt take any vehicle to a dealer except for free warranty service. the technicians at us dealers are nothing more than parts changers. if they dont have instructions in the manual or on-line they dont know what to do. dealers make more money in the service department than they do on the showroom floor. your best bet is to find an good independent mechanic and stick with them. the independents have to earn their living every day. the factory technicians just have to latch on to the company tit and cruse. jam latch on to the company tit and cruse. haha! i thought youd say start suckin .
