Danger of death from Toyota!

Q: my personal opinion if i saw an injector leaking i would have bought a complete set of o-rings pulled them all and replaced the o-rings problem solved for just a few bucks. coasty noticed #3 line seeping at injector yesterday. researched on the net and tried the following loosened the brackets securing the line than i backed it off. the nut was a little over finger tight wiped with a clean rag to feel for corroding or breaks. re tightened torque to 24 ft lb. so far seems ok but it was still wet around it where the rag wouldnt reach when i got in tonight. anyone got similar what did you do to fix it -- billy 1995 ram 2500 4x4 cummins .

friends i have a 1996 ram 4x4 1500 pu slt 5.9l 75k. i have had a small antifreeze leak for quite a while. it was never enough to leave a spot on the ground but i would occasionally get a whiff when i got out of the truck and would have to top off the reservoir every once and a while. yesterday there was a small pool on the ground and it used a third of the reservoir in a day. please forgive the terms i am going to use below as i really dont know what im talking about as usual. im having trouble finding the exact location of the leak. it does not appear to be any hoses. the best i can trace the leak is that it is wet on a seam about three inches behind the seam that the water pump is mated to with those six or seven bolts on the passenger side. in other words there is the mating surfaces to which the water pump is bolted passenger side; then a few inches behind this is a seam. it appears that the coolant is coming out of this seam; leaking onto the oil pan seam; running back a couple of inches; dripping onto an engine mount; then onto the axle; then to the ground. is it possible this leak is actually from the water pump i dont know if a pressure test would help me as i was watching it drip but could not trace it any further up than i so eloquently stated above. steve sounds like it may be the thermostat housing leaking. its a little hard to see but if you follow the upper hose towards the engine itll take you to it. the gasket is a common place for leaks. denny .

my husband was talking when he should have been thinking. he mistakenly put about 1 1/2 gal of reg gas in his diesel truck before he realized his mistake...then filled it up with diesel before bringing it home...what kind of problem do we have on our hands and what do we do to fix it thanks penny -- pjbuchanan one and one-half gallons of gasoline in a full tank of diesel will do no long-term damage. as a precaution i would get a bottle of diesel fuel additive powers stanadyne etc. and add it to the tank. the additional lubricity from the additive will offset the detergency of the gasoline. also expect the engine to rattle a little more than normal til that tankful of fuel is run thru. hope this helps! mike ------------------------------------------------------------------------ view this thread http//www.carstalk.net/viewtopic-378626.html send from http//www.carstalk.net .

the intial cost of the vehicle is not so much of a concern as it is to operate it fuel insurance servicing maintenance. trucks are all ive driven the last 18 years and ive noticed a drastic increase over the years to own and operate one. so the price of fuel and the amount the truck consumes is a factor. if the numbers warrant the extra initial cost of the cummins then i will be more than happy to make a sound purchase on both a financial and emotional level. i think you have misunderstood what some of the posters are telling you... you havent stated your intended use for this pickup. if you really need the incredible power of the cummins you wouldnt ask what kind of mileage they get for the simple reason that it wouldnt make a difference. diesels are expensive to purchase expensive to operate and expensive to repair. thats the minus side. on the plus side if you need to pull something it will pull the house off of a foundation exageration. if you arent pulling a big 5th wheel trailer or a stock trailer you probably shouldnt go the diesel route. .

budd cochran mr-d150@preciscom spam.net wrote in neither of you were there neither of you know exactly what happened. and apparently neither of you have been a 64 valiant during an accident. i used to have a 65 dart that was real real tough i think they used thicker sheetmetal and structural elements back then. well i never was in an accident with it but it probably would have held up well. sure the newer cars are designed to give to get rid of the kinetic energy but ive seen a lot of cars that have been in fatal accidents and it seems the car gives too much and the passenger ends up getting smashed by the sides of their car. best bet is to drive defensively and stay off your cell phone whilst driving and keep adequate space cushions. ive been driving 18 years and never had an accident not even a fender bender. and due to adequate space cushions ive never been hit by anyone else. ive only had 2 insurance claims both for damage done to my car while it was sitting in parking lots and both times were hit and runs. the number of hit and runs is staggering. my mother was almsot killed by a hit and run driver. she had been sitting at a red light and was rear ended by a full size truck doing 50 or so. he managed to drive away and never stopped to render aid or anything. she couldnt manage to get his license plate # due to her neck being virtually broken. my little sister was also rear ended while she was waiting at a red light -- another hit and run. its an epidemic. it sure pisses me off. ----== posted via feeds.com - unlimited-unrestricted-secure usenet ==---- http//www.feeds.com the #1 group service in the world! 120000+ groups ----= east and west-coast server farms - total privacy via encryption =---- .

bought 1 for my 02 dakota 4.7 auto. made 2 dyno pulls my freind has a portable dyno he takes to car shows so some guys can have bragging rights 1st pull without the jet chip show a horsepower of 238. 2nd pull on dyno with the jet chip installed it only takes about 2 minutes to install on the dakota showed a horsepower of 257!! 19 more hp this is with the stage 1 chip as the only mods i have are cat back exsaust and cold air intake. not bad for 2 min work!! but the chips are pricey!!! hope this helps. does anyone know if jet performance chips work and are they worth the money i have a 2004 ram 1500 quadcab with 5.7l hemi with a/t. i purchased a programmer iii plug in tuner and it did not really do anything for the performance. .

that rtv was factory i do believe correct me if im wrong and asside from the air hose idea i have no easy way to suggest to you. you may try a rubber mallet to tap sharply on a lower corner tryin to work it loose but no gauruntee there either. -- -chris 05 ctd 99 durango hello everyone. sorry for cross posting - the other group looks still sleeping i did some googling to no avail. 1992 dodge caravan 3.0 mitsub. engine. i have removed all the bolts holding the oil pan in place after removing all the darn engine mounting brackets of course but the darn pan wont come off. i am afraid damaging the pan sealing surface by being rough with it. i am hoping there may be a better and more professional way to remove it. originally some one probably repair shop used reddish rtv of some kind so now the pan is feels like glued to engine. thank you for any hint in advance. mike .

| i wonder if most of the newly built pick-up trucks domestic or | imported are made in four wheel drive | i recall in the old days that during the winter pick-up trucks usually | have problem with tractions and they have to buy bags of sand to make | sure that the rear wheels are not spinning. what about the new trucks | and pick-ups are they now front wheel drive all wheel drive or 4 | wheel drive i hardly hear someone complaining that they have to load | their pick up truck with bags of sand any longer. is this still the | practice during winter months i dont bother with sand anymore. i carry a shovel and fill the bed of the truck up with snow. when i dont need it anymore hey it goes away on its own! .

only 46k original miles on it. today when i stepped on the brakes it pulled severely to the right. no apparent reasons like hitting a curb or median. it was also bouncing like i was driving on a dirt road but i was on a 4 lane highway. any clues would be appreciated. thanks. .
