Dakota tough to crank when restarting hot
From : ccd
Q: my 87 dakota v6 has a problem when i try and restart it after its warmed up. it really sounds like the engine is does not want to turn. i have a strong battery new so it does crank it but theres this moment of tension when i have my doubts that the thing is going to restart. no problems when its cold btw spins easily only when its warmed up more than five minute or longer. ive recently changed the air and fuel filters dist cap and rotor but no change with regards to the tough cranking problem. thx. .

the battery cables have looked kind of scary. ive people mention that when cables get old the resistance goes up. ill give that a try. i believe theyre originals still. the truck has had other resistance problems in the past like the heater blower switch going. turned out to be the resistor pack. thx. sounds to me like you may have some resistance it your battery cables. when they warm up because of the resistance a gap may be spreading and not letting the current through that is needed to crank. but when they cool down the gap may close and let the proper juice through only until they heat up from current again. -- from the desk of jesse a. harrington my 87 dakota v6 has a problem when i try and restart it after its warmed up. it really sounds like the engine is does not want to turn. i have a strong battery new so it does crank it but theres this moment of tension when i have my doubts that the thing is going to restart. no problems when its cold btw spins easily only when its warmed up more than five minute or longer. ive recently changed the air and fuel filters dist cap and rotor but no change with regards to the tough cranking problem. thx. .
