i have a 1964 valiant /6. had the head gasket blow twice in the 10 years i have owned it. i even managed to drive it 70+ miles with it blown by just refilling the rad at every other off-ramp. the /6 is darned near bullet-proof. run a compression test on it to see if you got other issues as to why the water is getting in the oil. trust me. slapping a head gasket in that is childsplay. otherwise change the oil a couple of times and throw some highway miles on er and see what happens. keep an eye on the antifreeze levels. keep the truck. the engine will probably outlast the body. -dje dodge tom wrote i have a nice looking 1964 dodge lb with slant 6 & 3 spd on tree and it sipped water when i drove over large puddle at t inersection. that was during rain. on second day i drove and stopped in middle of that same puddle looking both ways before going on right. next day i checked oil. there was white smudges on oil dipstick!! that was last month. how did the water got in was of a loose oil pan! i got under the engine to tighten bolts on oil pan then had to change oil & fitler twice but not drive it daily but once after several miles of driving on each oil change. the color of oil looks better but still the darn water there! the color of oil looks almost transparent toffee. i was told by an employee where i work that i must sell it! i just had that truck for only 5 months! i dont want to sell it since it ran so good and quiet! should i keep on changing oil until the oil looks like it just drank fresh oil out of yellow pennzoil pints -or- sell it any alternatives tia! .
