hi john i have a 90 dak 3.9 with 198k miles and have been so satisfied with the overall vehicle that as the engine finally began to get tired i was really unsure what to do. there was a nagging intermittant start problem but i think that has been traced to a frayed wire in the harness. so being reluctant to let go i have just recently within 1200 miles had a new engine installed. the deciding factor was how well the body has held up. i live in ny and most of the past 13 yrs. this truck has wintered outdoors. i really wanted to buy a new one this past winter but now im sure ill be stuck with the one i have for several more years! good luck. hello i am considering buying a new dakota truck next spring. can any of you fine people here tell me if your dakota is standing the test of time and its current mileage. thanks in advance for your help. john p.s. currently an s-10 owner. .

00 dak qc 4.7 auto 4x4 lsd towing group heavy duty services group tire and wheel package 31x10.50-15 on 8 wide wheels. currently at 45000. the goodyears wore out pretty quickly so im using bfg ats now. crankshaft position sensor replaced at around 12000 mi. rear passenger door solenoid/lock replaced at 20000 mi fan clutch water pump and rear driveshaft u-joints replaced today. front brakes almost worn out not bad for 45 k mi. will replace with powerslot rotors and hawk pads in a couple of weeks. slight leak on steering rack seal will relace when it leaves a puddle. other than that its been a great vehicle i would however get a manual tranny next time around. wayne -- if you want a picture of the future imagine a boot stamping on a human face - for ever. .

bought a 95 dakota 2.5 4 cylinder. 212000 miles no problems or big expense just normal maintenance items until the head gasket went. rebuilt engine got another 43000 on it. still runs but i think its broke a ring now. body is still in decent shape paints getting a little thin though. overall i would rate the dakota a great truck and yeah ill buy another when i can swing it. rick hello i am considering buying a new dakota truck next spring. can any of you fine people here tell me if your dakota is standing the test of time and its current mileage. thanks in advance for your help. john p.s. currently an s-10 owner. .

i have a 98 dakota with 250000 miles. never had a real problem to around 200000 since then have had to replace radiator ps ac water pump and rear brake drums. the brake drums were my fault let changeing the brakes go to long and ended up metal to metal. other than that just normal maintance. btw the paint is starting to get a little thin. 02 slt club cab 2wd v6 24000 so far and only problem has been the cd making strange noises. around 18 mpg that you wont get with the v8. no.spam@no.junk.mail wrote on tue 07 oct 2003 194724 gmt john jquell1@nycap.rr.com wrote hello i am considering buying a new dakota truck next spring. can any of you fine people here tell me if your dakota is standing the test of time and its current mileage. thanks in advance for your help. john p.s. currently an s-10 owner. 2003 with 9k and no problems so far. dont get the 6! its a piece of shit youll get better performance and milage from the 8. mine has about 42k miles on it. it went back to the dealer twice for recalls seat belt bolt check and reflash one of the computers. i do routine maint only never had to fix anything that was broken. stock tires were replaced 2 months ago. its a great truck. it runs great has plenty of power is very comfortable and rides/handles extremly well. it is a little noisy and gets kinda poor gas mileage. -- .bob 97 h-d fxdwg - turbocharged!! 01 dakota quad sport 5.9/auto/4x4 83 gmc jimmy beater 66 427sc cobra replica - project 66 mustang coupe - daily driver -----= posted via feeds.com uncensored usenet =----- http//www.feeds.com - the #1 group service in the world! -----== over 100000 groups - 19 different servers! =----- .
