Q: according to my chiltons manual you need to jack up the truck so the axle will drop down also. budd guy lee wrote im unsure of which model of transmisson i have. it is an automatic and i removed the shield adjacent to the oil pan. the pan hangs about 1/4 to 1/2 on the transmission. it doesnt seem to be caught on anything but the transmission. thanks guy guy which engine and trans do you have did you remove the dust shield lower cover from the bell housing budd guy lee wrote hello im having quite a problem removing my oil pan. i removed the bolts from the pan and the bars that are connected to the transmission. i also removed the starter and then jacked the engine per the haynes manual to about 3 off of the motor mounts. the pan is lowered on the crossmember and cant get the lip over the bottom of the transmission bell housing. im stumped here--should i need to remove the engine to get it to fall any help would be appreciated. guy .

insure10nospam@nospamyahoo.com writes is it just me or has this past week had the quickest increase in prices for the past year last saturday i filled my truck for $1.47 in nj. this week its up to $1.67 for name brand gas and $1.59 for no-name regular. its not much better here in texas just 50 miles from the refineries. best price in town right now is at a diamond shamrock station and an exxon/mobil station both currently at $1.49/9 for 87 octane regular. 93 octane premium yesterday was $1.67/9 at the same two stations. this is the highest its been around these parts in years. look for prices to fall slightly after the labor day holiday. .

all i know for sure was that the service manager at the dodge dealer told me that if the engine failed and they found an oil filter on the motor that was non mopar that it would void the warranty. this was several years ago and i heard that there had been some sort of legal action between fram and mopar since then but i am not taking any chances as most auto companies will use about any loop hole they can find to get out of paying for a new motor. if anyone knows for sure it would be interesting to find out before it was too late. kc terra cloudster@iname.com wrote in i dont think dodge filters are necessary just dont use fram. there are a couple oil filter study sites http//people.msoe.edu/yoderw/oilfilterstudy/oilfilterstudy.html http//www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oilfilterstudy/ that describe how various brands are constructed. heres a fram ...features cardboard end caps that are glued in place. the rubber anti-drainback valve seals the rough metal backplate to the cardboard end cap and easily leaks causing dirty oil to drain back into the pan. if you have a noisy valve train at startup this filter is likely the cause. .
