gf wrote my son is thinking about buying a 2001 dakota quad 4x4 and has asked me for info.i own a cummins so have no info on the dakotas.are there any major issues with these trucksthe one he is looking at has 50000 km on the gauge and is powered by a 4.7l fully loaded truck.any info welcome. the big issues with all dakotas is ball joints transmissions and warped front brake rotors. i think a lot of that is due to abuse and poor maintenance. except for the ball joints. thats a known design flaw with these trucks that dc refuses to fix. i have almost 50000 miles not km on my truck. so far ive done routine maint only; ive not had to fix anything. -- ..bob 97 h-d fxdwg - turbocharged!! 01 dakota quad sport 5.9/auto/4x4 83 gmc jimmy beater 66 427sc cobra replica - project 66 mustang coupe - daily driver -----= posted via feeds.com uncensored usenet =----- http//www.feeds.com - the #1 group service in the world! -----== over 100000 groups - 19 different servers! =----- .

curious what transmission problems you are talking about i have an 01 dakota quad cab with a 4.7 and ive noticed that sometimes mainly when i just barely get into 2nd gear and slow down the downshift is really rough. thanks rob gf wrote my son is thinking about buying a 2001 dakota quad 4x4 and has asked me for info.i own a cummins so have no info on the dakotas.are there any major issues with these trucksthe one he is looking at has 50000 km on the gauge and is powered by a 4.7l fully loaded truck.any info welcome. the big issues with all dakotas is ball joints transmissions and warped front brake rotors. i think a lot of that is due to abuse and poor maintenance. except for the ball joints. thats a known design flaw with these trucks that dc refuses to fix. i have almost 50000 miles not km on my truck. so far ive done routine maint only; ive not had to fix anything. -- .bob 97 h-d fxdwg - turbocharged!! 01 dakota quad sport 5.9/auto/4x4 83 gmc jimmy beater 66 427sc cobra replica - project 66 mustang coupe - daily driver -----= posted via feeds.com uncensored usenet =----- http//www.feeds.com - the #1 group service in the world! -----== over 100000 groups - 19 different servers! =----- .

i had mine done last october. service rep came into the waiting room and said it was dirty so i said to go ahead and change it. how much could it be went to pay the bill and sure enough it was like $37. complained and the marked it down to $23. they said they charged me list by mistake...... half an hours labor to replace it also. what a crock of crap to me two minutes to get it out of the housing so that i could see what was so special about it. they werent available at the local parts stores back then but it sure looked like a basic fram filter........ on 20 feb 2004 141843 -0800 rmorgan7@austin.rr.com ron m. wrote i have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 4.7. the air filter is just a plain vanilla filter no different from any other. its not any kind of unusual size or shape or material. yet its almost impossible to find one priced less than $35 - $50!!!! what is the deal here heck you cant even find one in any auto parts store or any place like walmart - you have to go to a dealer parts counter where its typically $49.95. i must be missing something here can anybody explain thanks ron m. .
