gentlemen all i am considering the purchase of a 1 or 2 year old 2500 series ram diesel probably with the 4 door cab. i would like some feedback about whether or not to shop for the automatic or just have some fun with the 6 speed. what should i look for since this will be my first diesel i seem to notice the resale value of all diesels drops dramatically from new is it just me or is there a good reason any and all info will be good for me at this point. thanks in advance mark m. fun with a 6 speed only if going slow is fun. the six speed is a big heavy transmission. it shifts like a truck and the ctd has a turbocharger so when you let off the throttle to shift boost goes away. with an automatic you stomp it and keep it to the floor and the transmission shifts. you dont loose the boost. al 04 ctd six speed 4x4. ah but for towing the 6 speed is awesome!!! i purposely wanted the 6 speed. and have no regrets. i would suggest that you look for a stock truck without the power adders. 325/610 is a lot of power and if you havent driven diesel before you just might be surprised. on a side note ive embarrassed a few mustangs with my 6 speed truck and have towed anything that i wanted to without a problem my truck is a 05 2500 crew cab 8 box ctd. and yes the 6 speed is fun to drive or at least for me *grin* -- ---------------------------- -chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd real trucks dont need spark plugs. .

tmills65 wrote the previous owner of my 96 ram 1500 installed an aftermarket cd player and totally destroyed the factory wiring harness for the infinity system the cam with the truck. to make matters worse he pretty much ripped the system out of the truck before i bought it. i now have a really ugly mess of wires with none of the factory connectors left. i am now trying to install another aftermarket cd player and i think i am almost done. i have made sense of almost everything except the signal line for the relay to supply power to the infinity amps the ones attached to the back of the speakers in the doors. does anyone know the color of the wire i need to connect a 12v+ signal to activate the amp relay i have read some messages about needing to ground a second wire as well. any thoughts found it ... on my 96 ram 1500 it is green/red green with red stripe. i connected the power antenna wire from my aftermarket cd player to this wire and the amps now have power. does anyone know where the relay and fuse for the amps is located .

sigh when it rains it pours. my hubby took the day off and while driving the truck first the radio intermittently cut out display and sound... driving it a bit later the radio cut out again then completely and he noticed the turn signals also would not work. went home turned truck off called dealer drove it over to the dealer later and all was working fine. of course since it was fine upon arrival dealer wouldnt even look at it but said that turning it off and back on may have fixed the error darn rebooting the truck fixes it wow. when i got home i looked for codes but no new ones. any clue what this could be my understanding is the radio and turn signals are on two separate circuits... so why would they both go out at the same time. as it was daylight we dont know if any other lights were affected. the recall concerning rerouting the wiring under the clutch was just done last week... any help appreciated. we thought maybe it was migrating water as a power hose was used on it last week by the dealer to clear off the radiator fluid all over the drivers side of the engine... jmc .
