Q: ya gotta quit sniffing fumes from those old harley gas tanks . . lifes just passing ya by my friend. bg i think it was about a year ago or a little less. he made one start at the move and the ford pos rental quit on them ands forced a return to nc then later it all came together and he moved. besides the aroma from an old cushman tank has a much more delicate bouquet .. . . . budd on sun 05 dec 2004 015450 gmt budd cochran mr-d150@citlinkspam.net wrote hey greg nate moved to montana last summer. budd really where has the time gone i didnt think he had been through a winter there yet. i had met a couple from bute montana years ago and from what they said about winter i couldnt imagine living there. hell anything below 40 is cold to me. beekeep .

you would think that it would be easy to measure and cut two boards to go across the bed to keep my tube sand from shifting around. they put a curve in the floor to screw me up. now im stuck with two 66 inch pieces of 2x8! does anybody know the actual measurement also its too bad the recesses in the side of the truck bed arent deeper. im not a carpenter but i suppose ill just buy another 2x8 and cut it then spike it to the tops of the two loose ones. .

from bks i have a 2001 dodge dakota quad 4x4 with 16 tires the original rims. a dope at a tire shop said i couldnt go down to 15 rims for the winter due to all the electronics in 4x4. first dodge oem is either 15 or 16 inch tires---you cant tell me they change the electronics or tranny when they sell trucks with the original larger or smaller tires. is he full of it i would love to get smaller tires for winter with new steel rims---cheaper and better. and any recommendations on snow tires for massachusetts would be recommended. have bridgestone atv revos and they suck in the snow. thanks. youre probably right about the dope at the tire shop but i really dont know for sure. why would you want to go down a size in the winter it would seem to me that a larger diameter tire with the same size footprint cubic inches touching the ground and tread design would give you more control over the power applied. a larger footprint may give you less traction depending on the tread. hank may not understand. .

i have been a chrysler fan all my life. to be exact i loved plymouth rip. i just bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 today. 67400 miles. i am sure you are all thrilled at this . i went right down and had the oil changed and intend to do this every 3 to 4000 miles. the truck is blue and sweet very clean. i am a minimalist but i went to the local truck stuff store to blow the remainder of my money. i did not see anything i could not live without though so i walked out with my money in my pocket. add ons are expensive! i do want to personalize my truck though. any tips for a new owner suggestions hints phyloe -- life is the things that happen while youre waiting for things that never happen .

thanks! thats what i wanted to know. joe i assume you are referring to the 92 and up magnum style multi port fuel injection in which case yes you will most likely have to switch to the magnum style cylinder heads due to differences in the intake and exhaust ports. it is possible that you could make the intake fit on the old heads but i would not recommend it especially considering that the intakes offered by mopar performance for la series small blocks are specific to either magnum or pre-magnum engines. they would probably know best about compatability between their offerings. however i have been browsing e-bay motors for magnum heads myself lately and i ran across a place called clearwater cylinder heads in florida that sells remanufactured magnum heads fully assembled with valves and springs for $175.00 a piece plus shipping and the magnum heads will more or less bolt right on to any la series small block 273318 340 360. the magnum heads also provide a much better flowing port and larger valves than previous la heads which will equate to more torque and horsepower. anyway hope this helps! .

the vehicle 1994 dodge dakota 3.9 v6 4 speed auto overdrive transmission. symptoms 1 on first start up of the day the trans may take 5-8 seconds to engage when put into drive. drive is the first selected gear as the truck is backed into its space reverse is not needed. this has happened about 4 times since i bought the truck 3 months ago. 2 if the truck experienced the above symptom this one usually follows. about 2 blocks down the street theres a stop light always red when i get to it after stopping for the light and getting the green i try to accelerate from the stop and it takes about 3 seconds for the trans to engage and the truck moves. between symptom one and two the trans will shift exactly as it should after symptom two once the truck is under way it shift just fine and shows no signs of defect. the fluid is full on the down side is the fact the dealer i bought the truck from apparently changed the trans fluid and it looks and smells like new. i contacted the dodge dealer and they looked my truck up by its vin and they say the tc drain back tsb doesnt apply to my truck. heres another concern if the used car dealers service department installed the wrong fluid would these be the symptoms that i should expect if this transmission is toast i doubt it but im ready for a worst case scenario is there a 904 or 727 that will bolt up to this v6 engine would it be a big deal to trick the sensors on the transmission into thinking theyre seeing the 4aod tranny so code dont get set and make the dashboard light up like a christmas tree i can pick up a fresh 904 wtc for about $350 and an outboard od unit would run about $960 including drive shaft mods. what do your guys think thanks in advance for any help or advice offered. .

i put a set of rs9000s on the 03 2500 ctd 4wd and after a few thousand miles i have a rattle coming from the back end somewhere. it rattles when i hit small bumps in residential neighborhoods. i crawled under and push/pulled on everything in sight. the rr shock is solid the lr shock seems to be loose at the bottom bracket. its like if the shock hole was a bit larger than the mounting bolt hole and with no tension it can be rocked back and forth. is this normal is this a mounting problem tighten it up or a shock problem warrantee. i have it set to 1 with no load ill try it set to 3 later today and see if there is any difference in the rattle. or maybe sandbags for extra weight .... oh crap nevermind i didnt mention sandbags. -- fmb only one b in fmb a couple of things did you use the rubber bushings or did you put poly bushings in if you put rubber toss em and put in poly they should be 3/4 i believe i ve seen rubber bushings wear out in a matter of months and can cause what you describe the bolt is no longer snug inside the bushing because of wear polyurethane doesnt last forever either but will net you way more years of abuse there shouldnt be any play at the shock mounts at all they only need to have a little flexability to pivot slightly on the bolts when the shocks are doing their job and it doesnt matter how you install em you can put them right in while the truck sits in the driveway with no jacks and one other note i ve seen this a few times but only when its real cold out but i ve had shocks freeze i dont know what happens exactly but i ve had ranchos do it and now my skyjackers do it in the winter they knock it clears up when it gets warmer but again only when its real cold for extended periods shepherds we shall be for thee my lord for thee power hath decended forth from thy hand so our feet may swiftly carry out thy command we shall flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be in nomine patris et filii et spiritus sancti .

do you happen to know of any other diesel that might fit maybe a wrecked benz steve lusardi wrote my goodness! you really enjoy pain and punishment! of course it could be done. the first step would be to remove the van body from the 3/4 ton frame. stay home if you want to do this with a 1/2 ton stiffen the entire frame and suspension mounting points. now stiffen the front suspension cross beam and upper and lower a arms to take the much larger coil springs. find space for the huge radiator/ oil cooler/ a/c condenser and intercooler in the front surround read nightmare. remove the original transmission crossmember and manufacture a new one to mate with the new gearbox and relocate on the existing frame stiffening the mounting point once the location is determined etc. you would have to remanufacture virtually everything and then you would be forced to cut away the entire floor of the van and build a new one. you would be lucky to find space for the front seats let alone access for maintenance. consider this a bad dream. steve hello all just picked up a cherry of an 88 dodge ram wagon http//www.befumo.com/newvan.htm which i have every intention of hanging on to for the long haul. while i have no plans to do anything immediately i was thinking i might just keep my eyes open for a good deal on a wreck with the cummins 5.9 turbo diesel from which i could harvest the engine and associated electronics -- transmission if necessary. so my question is will the cummins fit into the van without at lot of hefty mods i have access to a shop with a lift and an expert welder if i have to do some modest fabrication but i probably wouldnt get into it if its not largely a bolt-in process. thanks. joe .

and its the improved drivability that tom seeks to avoid . . . budd tbone wrote lol you guys really crack me up. i simply said that putting weight in the back was not necessary in a 4x4 for his needs and not a single one of you has been able to prove that wrong. necessary...no but it will improve drivabiltiy significantly and that is what all the argueing seems to be about. scott .
