lol.....thats what i thought too. but all things considered i think for what all id get for $4k its still a bargain to some degree. especially since everything id need is there for the conversion. it does have damage to the front so i might have to find a few items though. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels aahhh...hes bumped it to $4000.00. wow... $1500 is give or take a little .

aahhh...hes bumped it to $4000.00. still worth it i think especially since i can sell off the transmission and other odds and ends to recoup some of that back to me. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels ok i have a line on a donor vehicle at what may be a great price. the motor has 186223 miles on it with less on the rebuilt automatic tranny. questions is this with this many miles although low for a cummins from what i read what areas should i consider touching on is it a good idea to go ahead and freshen up the motor with rings seals and all i know the typical response might be if its running just go with it but if im looking at a potential rebuild in 120k miles...thats 4-5 years for me and since i will already have it out its something to consider. im thinking itd be nice to know i essentially have a brand new motor under the hood and id have more years than i could count before id have to worry about and possible problems. any ideas my gasser has decided to relieve me of to much oil now and its about time to seriously get onto this project idea. im looking at about $2500 or so for the complete donor vehicle give or take a little. ive also talked to the guy about just selling me what all i need for the conversion and he is considering it but he prefers to move the entire vehicle. if you can buy the whole thing for 2500 id jump on it. your going to need all sorts of little stuff for this conversion. .

wouldnt 01 be the second generation isb if its the 3rd what change was made the generations refer to the overall 5.9l lineup 1st gen is the 6bt with the ve pump 2nd gen is the 6bt with the p7100 pump 3rd gen is the isb with the vp44 pump 4th gen is the isbe with the hpcr the 04.5 and up arent considered a separate generation as the only real differences are electronic. sure the injectors are different - the turbos different etc. - but the basic design of the engine and fuel system isnt any different hence no separate generation designation. .

well guess i need to verify then. bottom line is im looking for a donor for the 2001 model year. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels as i understand it 3rd generation is 2003 and 2004 only. these are two injection event common rail 24 valve engines. year 2004.5 and on are 3 event systems. earlier 24 valve motors are mechanical single event pressure/time pump engines. steve its my understanding the 3rd gen is the isb 24 valve from 1998.5-2002. got it here http//dodgeram.org/supportpgs/dieselix.htm -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels the 3rd gen isb for 2001 model year. ah ok - 3rd generation engine design not truck design. wouldnt 01 be the second generation isb if its the 3rd what change was made -- nathan in montana http//concealedcarryforum.com http//1911talk.com http//hipowertalk.com http//glockcarry.com http//p7talk.com http//ppstalk.com .
