the cummins is a great engine but it would be nice to see something in the dakota. i saw the pictures of the new durango on the dodge web site. if that is what we can expect to see in the new dakota then i will keep my 99 dak for a long time! why do the truck have to keep getting bigger and bigger its a perfect size right now. the new body style will become bigger. sure it will offer the hemi but who cares what ever hp gain it makes is countered with the increase in mass. i wonder if the 5.9 cummins will fit in the new dak check this one out guys. we know the contract is already until 2007 so this could be up to 2008 or 2010 etc. i wish they would have released the length of contract. im trying to find out but i dont know what kind of luck im going to have. http//www.dieseltruckresource.com/yabbse/index.phpboard=3;action=display;t hreadid=21575 jack webmaster - http//www.dieseltruckresource.com great site for dodge cummins owners! .

on thu 30 oct 2003 134308 -0800 hodad hd@juno.com wrote according to this site the 5.9 has 245hp at 4000 rpm and 330 f/lbs of torque at 3250 rpm the 4.7 has 235hp at 4800 rpm and 295 f/lbs of torque at 3200 rpm they have a good article on the development of the 4.7 engine. hd thanks... i was thinking that the 5.9 had a few more hp than the 5.2 but a lot more torque making it the better towing engine... assuming that the 5.2 and 4.7 are pretty close in specs the 360 doesnt seem like much more until you think of it in terms of the 5.9 having over 10% more torque.. btw ive read the article you linked in the past when we bought the truck in 02 and i was impressed with what they did to make a 4.7 have equal output with the 5.2 and a little better fuel efficiency.. .

yes i have seen this truck before its very nice highly custom and not for sale. if they managed to convince dodge to put that engine in a production truck then i would buy one. even at half the hp and tq i would still buy one! check this out http//www.bankspower.com/sidewinder.cfm the cummins is a great engine but it would be nice to see something in the dakota. i saw the pictures of the new durango on the dodge web site. if that is what we can expect to see in the new dakota then i will keep my 99 dak for a long time! why do the truck have to keep getting bigger and bigger its a perfect size right now. the new body style will become bigger. sure it will offer the hemi but who cares what ever hp gain it makes is countered with the increase in mass. i wonder if the 5.9 cummins will fit in the new dak .
