Cummins Chip?

Q: hello im getting my dodge ram 2500 diesel tomorrow and ive already started to think about chipping it. ive started looking around for chips and i was told by my car dealership that if i put in a cummins power chip it well not void my warranty. i was wondering if someone could tell me a place i could get this chip on the net website about the chip and specs before and after the chip. thanks in advance. - thenew brgnewman .

i was told by my car dealership that if i put in a cummins power chip it well not void my warranty. as usual your dealership is clueless. at one point there was a cummins-approved uprate kit for the early non-ho 24v engines. it was expensive and didnt add all that much power. there is no such kit available for the new isbe engines im assuming youre buying a new vehicle. installing a chip fueling box is the more appropriate term does not void your warranty. however dc is well within their rights to deny warranty coverage for any problem that might have been caused by the addition of that box. that means pretty much anything powertrain-related. if you blow up your transmission dont expect to get it repaired under warranty. but if your a/c evaporator springs a leak dc cant point to your fueling box and say sorry - warranty void. .

lowering income talk about lack of knowledge. shortening the time to repair allows for more repairs and more profits from the sale of parts alone. lol yup you have a lack of knowledge and obviously do not know the way the business operates. sure i do max and despite this bs i think that you do as well. that high tech equipment increases the shops ability speed and accuracy and all of these things lead to more money. funny how the garages all seemed to do just fine without this bs charge until it became the popular thing to do recently. um lol its not the recently popular thing to do its been going on for years its just become popular among you consumers to want it listed as a line item on the bill and thats not a bad thing. bullshit. it is now added to the bill for no other reason but to squeeze the maximum amount of money out of the customer. god forbid that anything is done anymore without charging top dollar for it. a fee for a diagnostic is nothing more than creative accounting to charge extra for a process that they would have to do anyway and used to do for free. used to do for free lol yep i believe that it was once thought of as customer service. too bad that is a lost art. funny how the auto parts stores can do this same service for nothing even if you dont buy the part from them. funny how the tool they let you borrow is so simple it couldnt compare to the otc and snap on tools. the stuff they have at the parts stores does the same damn thing you can do at home with a paperclip or on mopars a simple series of key on/key off switching. and that device tells you about as much as the home remedies.... a code. unfortunately codes dont tell it all. i would agree with this is if the percentage of the people using them knew wtf they were doing but sadly that is not the case. even the dealers tend to just guess if the computer does not tell them exactly what is wrong at least from what im seeing. if you think the tool at the parts store is a great deal have at it but itll never replace a computer interface with diagnostics and a good tech thet knows how to read more than codes. perhaps you should learn how to use a spell checker before criticizing others. i already said that a complex diagnosis that takes time and skill should be charged for separately unless it is part of the repair itself. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

fitch r. williams wrote the cummins chip doesnt void the warranty on 1999 era cummins engines it doesnt add much power either add ons like the va will give you about a 20% hp and 40% torque increase. i wouldnt exactly call that not much additional power. the question is does a person really need it. youre right in that the newer models have all the power a person should need. i think the 2004 puts out as much stock as my 1999 would with a va module added to it. jerry .
