ken if youre still having trouble when its warm then im willing to bet youve got a vacuum leak a failed or misadjusted accelerator pump or your carburetor has gummed up. narrowing down potential vacuum leaks one by one is easy enough -- get a good manual if you need to know what and when certain components get vacuum. you should then check to make sure that as soon as you move the throttle linkage a healthy squirt is provided from the accelerator pump. a late reaction might be cured by making sure the linkage is adjusted properly -- no squirt and you need a rebuild. if youve got a 2bbl holley on it oe 2210 and you have both a good accelerator pump squirt and healthy vacuum then it suggests that the transfer ports on the base plate arent being supplied with enough fuel to do their job. i often run across circumstances on older commercial trucks where if they dont move much the base plate gets just enough gum and corrosion in it to let it idle but have a hell of a time getting off idle. this isnt a spray-can carburetor cleaner job -- it needs to sit in a dedicated bucket of the stuff and have a thorough rebuild. maybe one step closer maybe someones lousy armchair diagnosis .... clannorm@yahoo.com wrote ive got this falling apart rv. the problem is when i start it it wont drive untill it has warmed up for 10 minutes. it idles fine and i can give it gas and its fine but if i put it in gear it dies. if i put it in gear and give it no gas and its warm enough it will maybe start to move but the slightest bit of pressure to the gas peddle and it dies. this was even worse in the winter when this was the only thing i had to drive to work for a week. it wouldnt run right till it had been 15 minutes warming up and i live in arkansas where winter mornings are usually around 40 so not real cold. i dont have a book. there is some sort of vacume device with a line running to some sort of big diafram with a linkage to the carb. this appears to not be working. ken .

yes we have the year one panels in hand. we have started with the pass side floor pan in removing what was left of it. we found the inner side of the rocker rotted as well an unanticipated surprise but not totally unexpected as he already has the new rockers also in hand also from year one. and to help or maybe make things worse. this car is a sub frame car you know the ones half unibody half frame rails front and rear. -- ---------------------------- -chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd real trucks dont need spark plugs. oh darn. youre gonna have find some way to find the correct dimensions for the rockers and the whole floor area. one of the big problems with body-on-frame cars is the body has no real stiffness unlike a unibody which can be made so it hardly moves when panels are cut out. can you find a similar car a same year b-o-p body should be close and get the dimensions you need then jack it back to shape and weld in your braces. have you found a source for your panels if its a well reputed source like year one then the panels themselves can help in fixing things up. -- budd cochran john 316-17 ephesians 28-9 romans 323 623 our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. it is wholly inadequate for the government of any other. john adams thats my concern the floor pan is already out and the inside and bottom of the rocker is gone for the most part. he already has the panels as there was some rust holes on the outside just under the door that he knew about and was already planning the replacement. this is on a restoration me and a friend are working on together. -- ---------------------------- -chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd real trucks dont need spark plugs. if you have the interior completely stripped youll need to brace it every way you can think of. if you think it can move out of line in a certain direction it probably can. -- budd cochran john 316-17 ephesians 28-9 romans 323 623 our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. it is wholly inadequate for the government of any other. john adams hey guys im looking for some advice from you wielding and body gurus. we have a old pontiac here in the garage that needs some new floor pans and rocker panels wielded in. the pans i know i can do no problem. its the rockers i have a question about. do i need to put something like 1x1 tube in some sort of x fashion to support the body from twisting when i cut the rockers out. i realize that i want to cut then wield one side at a time. -- ---------------------------- -chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd real trucks dont need spark plugs. -- posted via a free usenet account from http//www.tera.com -- posted via a free usenet account from http//www.tera.com .
