Cooling Fan Clutch
From : dodge it
Q: how do i test if a fan clutch is working right i have a 92 dodge dakota that overheats in the summer. it does not really overheat but runs very hot with the indicator close to the red line. i thought it was only if the air conditioning is on but came to find out even if its off it still runs high. the funny thing is it does not run high during winter time. thanks for all the assistance. ive gotten a lot of help from this group before and i really appreciate it. .

the quickest way to check this condition is to start the truck let it idle and observe any deviation in the fan direction or pitch during accelerationwhile in neutral to see if there is a wobble or noise increase. if there is a wobble or noise increase replace the the unit - short bucks. hope this helps .
