on mon 25 dec 2006 115539 -0500 granville ryount@carolina.rr.com wrote denny wrote i seen a cold air intake on ebay by chromeintakes at a good price. has anyone had any experience with this system and is it really worth the time and money to install a cold air intake depends on what you are expecting. if you want it to look good when you open the hood and to make a little more noise when the accelerator is pressed go for it. look at where your factory airbox is pulling air from....you already have a cold air intake. denny so i guess it is your opinion that an after market cold air intake isnt worth it. i do realize that the factory air box is designed to bring in cold air but the flow from the inlet of the box to the throttle body leaves something to be desired. the reason that i was considering this was to be able to operate more efficiently. i really dont care about the look and sound. i put one on a 360 dodge 98 dodge that i had. i actually got a lot more noise when i pressed on the accelerator. no better mileage and as far as power i dont think it made much if any difference. it was still a pig when towing. .

thats correct. fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump in the tank. i had a 2000 4.7 with a similar problem. i recommend taking it to a jeep dealer not dodge and have them put a pressure guage on the fuel rail. dodge dealer will tell you that since engine is not throwing codes there is no fuel pressure problem. that is not the case. the fuel pump could not be pressurizing the fuel rail enough and you wouldnt really notice even flooring the gas pedal from 20 to 90 mph. the fuel pump assemblies were quite problematic and dc kept that info secret squirrel. in 2003 dc redesigned the fuel pump and have been reinstalling the new part to replace the old pump design. this happened to me twice with my 2000. the only times i ever noticed a problem were upon starting the vehicle and on long trips 1500mi+ continous driving time. after a while the rpm of the engine would studder and spit when it down-shifted to go up hills or into passing gear and would slowly decrease over time. eventually i would have to stop when the studdering would start at 1500 rpm. i would leave the truck sit for a few hours then it would operate normally for a few hours before studdering again. it took dodge 6 months of troubleshooting and they could figure out nothing. after suggesting the fuel rail pressure they just blew me off. jeep check it as their first indication and proved that was the problem. i strongly recommend having the rail checked or you will be buying a ton of parts you dont need trying to troubleshoot. i also had a tps problem in connection to this one. they just happened to run concurrently they were not related. first sign of a tps problem on the 4.7 is to look for hunting in the speedomoter when driving a highway on cruise control. if the engine is warm you will see the rpm needle hunting. in both hunting cases it will sit steady at a predetermined rpm and every few seconds it will pulse. on sat 23 dec 2006 124916 -0600 gunner oldsalt@nashville.net wrote these trucks have a returnless fuel system. they also have no in-line fuel filter to change. i havent checked the fuel pressure yet but ill bet its probably ok. what that leaves so far is the fuel pressure regulator/filter assembly. this is mounted on top of the tank and the truck has a full tank of fuel for now. the wife just went shopping though . i have a 01 dakota 4.7l auto trans. hard as ever to start cold. sometimes hard to start even warm. i have to crank it 3 or 4 times as a norm unless i shut it off and start it within a couple minutes. there are no codes showing. i have already changed the idle air control solenoid valve dealer shop recommended and completely cleaned the intake area including the throttle position sensor. resistance readings on the tps show nothing wrong. once it starts it runs fine. there is a hissing like a vacuum leak behind the intake throat i cant track down and the dealer svc center says is normal. has anyone else here experienced this what was the fix........any suggestions from the rest thanks in advance joe posted via usenet.com premium usenet group services ---------------------------------------------------------- ** speed ** retention ** completion ** anonymity ** ---------------------------------------------------------- http//www.usenet.com .

merry christmas to all from an old fart that doesnt log in much any more. have a safe holiday everybody. denny merry christmas to you too and everyone else. maybe you would find more time to log in if you wernt spending it with da machine. havent seen the machine since ole red and mac were fueding over it. but i did hear a rumor that dale snuck down and nabbed it one night. we dont hear much from him anymore either.. bg wait a damn minute! ill admit to have had a few meds this week but that was a few days ago. but my wide assed buddy dont for a second think your going to run that line of bs. now if you folks remember back about a year ago there was a time when mac was heading to the northwest to visit his son. he was going to haul the machine up to red. ya with me here anyway as soon as that report got out there was a additional report of a floppy eared pudgy guy in a pink rabbit suit heading west in a dodge truck with a plow up front and carrots in the bed mumbling about im going to get it theyll never stop me. as mac told the story he parked for the night the next morning the machine was gone. next we heard of that same pink rabbit suit wearing guy in the plow truck was headed back east with no longer carrots in the back but with this large box. now does anybody want to guess what was in the box since that time he has turned his home into a armed camp. ars a 50 blow up dolls you name he has it. hell it has been reported here that his daughter is a better shot than he is. also note that he hasnt posted much recently. probably too weak to type with all the sessions with the machine. my uncle used to always say that the more a person talks the more hes trying to hide/cover up something. im thinking it took ole roy a bunch of time to peck all that out one handed. the perverts in here are probably wondering what that other hand has been doing. i gotta ask not that ill get any straight answer out of you does the machine really need lubed before every usage hmmmm..... two replies to one post first one was rather late last night second one was this am when i was awake. i get a little more creative after a little pillow time... g seems ya need a lot more pillow time friend. i think that maybe the rabbit might want to fess up. now he wants to know if the machine has to be lubed. since all i have is hearsay to go by i have to ask questions.. the river hes in the river! gbfg what did you do wear it out not me ya have to have it to wear it out.. probably thought it would run on carrot juice!g after you red mac and dale--even possibly others that i have no knowledge of--have had quality time with it im surprized it even works at all.. but i guess it didnt have to work too hard for you guys.. vbg wait a sec! a couple of para ago you had no knowledge of it. now your surprised it works at all. sure ya havent been hanging with your new found neighbor cause this sounds like a snow job. its okay pal for you to have it. enjoy it!! gbmfg roy denny .
