Chrome Clad Rim Problem

Q: rotflmbo!!! typical nimby. as kerry said in the last debate ... labels mean nothing and serve no purpose. we have a difference of opinion why cant you leave it at that based on hundreds of your posts i have read over the past couple of years i could label you as well. do you think the energy shortage is something new no. do you think there have been no experiments in alternative fuels i know there have been experiments. many many many of them. i have done a few in fact. we had a young man in the group bryan foust that made his own biodiesel fuel for a while with some success. we havent heard from him for a while so im not sure how its going. i have heard of such people myself. in fact if you search on google you can buy kits that help you create your own biodiesel. hybrids or electric vehicles are short range only vehicles but where does the butyl rubber or vinyls for the battery cases come from how muchoil or oil by-products are usd to make them fuel cells you know budd im not going off on an anti-oil tyrade here. oil is a good thing ... being as dependent on it as we are is a bad thing. i *think* we agree on that yes we will probably not eliminate oil products in my lifetime or if i had children thank goodness i dont .... i have ex-wives instead their lifetimes as well. we can reduce our dependence on oil ... and guess what ... everyone benefits! new jobs cleaner air limited or no problems in the middle east ... what i am trying to debate with you is what in the hell are we waiting on i understand there are limitations from a physics perspective ... but the ability to overcome those limitations comes from research. what does it take to do research on this government and private sector focus. that takes money ... more money than baby bush has thrown at it and probably more than kerry will throw at it as well. but with kerry i believe that there will be more attention on alternative energy. its a defining part of the democratic party. not to say that republicans cant or wont ... im saying that this president baby bush lacks the desire to focus anymore than he has in the last 4 years. and to free up monies from the government which social programs do you want to cut how high do you want your taxes my taxes are high enough. i do think that many social programs can and should be cut. when it comes to social programs i lean more to the right. for example ... no more faith-based initiatives. period. no federal funding to third world countries. straight sales tax or flat tax with no exceptions etc ... i am not a geologist but there is oil in other places other than one of the most beautiful places on earth ... alaska. drilling there is a mistake environmentally. missed the point didnt ya well i didnt think so ... but perhaps i did. went right over your head didnt it ; calm down ... just having a friendly convo here. why is it wrong to drill in alaska but ok in moab ut or canon city co or podunk indiana yes there is a town there by that name . . .the city limit signs are on opposite sides of a piece of plywood. its not okay. i never said it was. i would prefer not to drill here at all. now ... what point did i miss the key phrase to remember is in my opinion. if you want to really go on being a tree hugger then you have to remember your opinion isnt worth a dime anywhere but between your ears. i understand. but if the majority agree ... then opinion becomes law/action. no more than yopu do your alaska . . .get the picture yet if so then figure out where you can drill without making someone mad about it. i think i have had the picture all along. we purchase the oil from the middle east and other pockets of the earth venezuala as we have been while funding r&d for alternative fuels that will eventually decrease our dependence. why do you have the mindset that we must drill here it means his research is horrifically biased. agreed ... when it comes to oil however ... most of the crap research out there is written by or funded by the oil companies. talk about bias ... in order for you to listen does the book have to written by an oil tycoon ... or a republican perhaps oho!!! in order for you to listen does the other person have to be a liberal/commie democrat tree hugger not at all. im listening to you! my studies in college on environmental science are not all taught by tree huggers. in fact most teachers are former employees of oil companies ... aka staunch republicans. i get along with them fine and they have many good ideas and valid points. now this is funny. ketchup isnt ruining the water we drink and air we breathe. so yes its a better source. nice spin makes no sense but still a nice spin. why doesnt it make sense agreed ... so we should stop and use up all of the oil ...

has anyone had any luck with dc getting them to warranty the chrome pitting problems and while misleading their customers into thinking that they have chrome rims while they really have plastic hubcaps. thanks! ...............................................................steve dodge will pay for the replacement mounting & balancing of your wheel if its still under warranty. had to get a wheel replaced on my 03 ram because the chrome was coming off of the plastic. i didnt know the wheels were plastic on steel until i tapped on them after i bought the truck. not like the metal on metal of the pre 02 rams. live & learn... jl .

what you fail to see is this diesel engines will burn only the amount of fuel needed to get the job done. you wont be as efficient as you think once the engine is installed in the same truck as the cummins is. yes but it takes a specific amount of fuel/energy to over come frictional forces/losses working inside the motor. those frictional forces are less in a smaller motor. if you take two engines that produce the same amount of torque/hp at a given rpm where you might typically cruise at say 1600 yet one is 3.8 liters and the other is 5.9....the 3.8 will afford you better economy hands down. do you disagree the savings might be marginal but savings are to be had. little here...little there...all adds up. pretty soon you might have a truck getting 25mpg or better. would be dreamy to get 30mpg out of a full size truck no i think it could be done if you could get a truck with a low drag coeffeicent ; the old dodge ram had one of like 0.39 i think. pretty darn impressive. with that deutz you could cruise the screw @ 1400rpm too. that would add to the reduction of over head frictional losses. 457*1400/5252 = 122hp...more than enough for pulling modestly heavy loads up steap grades. id look for a heavy duty 3.11 ring & pinion. lots of hassle but were dreaming here right diesel four bangers are found in numberous automobiles. why would the less than perfect balance affect me to the point of being turned off...i love diesels. stuart .
