Changing Fuel Filter

Q: i am going to change my fuel filter this weekend and wondering if there are any extra needed tools to change it any particular reason theyre not intended to be changed on a regular basis. can i just take the old filter out and install the new one yes - once you remove the fuel pump module from the fuel tank which necessitates either removing the fuel tank from the truck or removing the bed to access the top of the fuel tank. it sounds like youre assuming theres a standard in-line fuel filter mounted on a frame rail. unfortunately this is not the case with these trucks - theres a pre-filter/strainer at the bottom of the fuel pump module and an integrated filter/regulator at the top of the fuel pump module. neither are intended to be changed unless theres a fuel pressure problem. .
