Q: the truck has had a lot of mods done already and is about paid off. i dont want any more car payments so getting another truck is not an option. situation is the truck will not upshift anymore. i have only reverse and 1st. i changed the filter and fluid and found 1/4 inch of sludge all over the magnet ansd about 2 teaspoons of metal shavings in the corner i drained from. the dealer said they wont honor warranty because of 36 tires. he also said to check the output shaft sensor because this could cause this problem. i would rather a stick for many reasons and was thinking it would be more cost effective in the long run. i dont care about adding a console or changing out the column when i could just remove the shift handle. i am going to start pricing parts this week and was hoping you guys could give me a concise list of what is absolutely necessary to get rolling. thanks for any help! then he needs to add in the cost of a manual transmission console to the cost if he wants have cupholders he can use. i agree its beyond stupid to attempt these conversions anymore. way cheaper to either find a manual transmission truck or fix the automatic transmission. theres nothing inherently wrong with them. they wear out just like anything else this is going to sound dumb but you know that you wont be able to use your cup holder again..right the cup holders ae on the console in a manual shift dodge. ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

a concise list seems to me denny did that in the first response to your post yeah those 5 speed manual transmission in the 1/2 tons are real durable must be why they are rated to tow about 1/2 of what the automatic equipped ones are. i would rather a stick for many reasons and was thinking it would be more cost effective in the long run. ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

hey come on now i have one of these transmissions in my truck. just cause theyre weak doesnt mean they arent durable. right besides the manual says you never have to change the fluid just add some if it gets low. look at all the money you save in servicing! just dont tow anything heavier than a tent trailer! jim a concise list seems to me denny did that in the first response to your post yeah those 5 speed manual transmission in the 1/2 tons are real durable must be why they are rated to tow about 1/2 of what the automatic equipped ones are. i would rather a stick for many reasons and was thinking it would be more cost effective in the long run. ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

a concise list seems to me denny did that in the first response to your post i know i did not mean a new list. yeah those 5 speed manual transmission in the 1/2 tons are real durable must be why they are rated to tow about 1/2 of what the automatic equipped ones are. only thing i tow is an 8 foot trailer with my atv on it. and that is rare. i would rather a stick for many reasons and was thinking it would be more cost effective in the long run. .

i have 410 gears in to offset the tire size. or am i mistaken in that theory it does not appear to lug it down because when i let off the brake at a light or whatever it starts rolling immediately even at idle. lol his 36 inch tires are more of a load than that tent trailer!!!!! .

p.s. the 9600 lbs is for the 3.55 rear end. the 3.92 gives you another 1000. i would guess the 4.10 would be a bit above that. jim from what i have found out the 5 speed manual nv3500 is good for moving about 9600 lbs. like you i dont do any heavy hauling so i dont intend to pull more than 2 tons. i have an 03 qc 1500 4x4 4.7 with the manual and am quite pleased with it. jim by the way i can put 60 more pounds in the bed than the automatic version so there! ;^ a concise list seems to me denny did that in the first response to your post i know i did not mean a new list. yeah those 5 speed manual transmission in the 1/2 tons are real durable must be why they are rated to tow about 1/2 of what the automatic equipped ones are. only thing i tow is an 8 foot trailer with my atv on it. and that is rare. i would rather a stick for many reasons and was thinking it would be more cost effective in the long run. .
