Q: its my understanding that a 4v of sizing similar to a 2v will have smaller diameter venturis and butterfly valves -- and produce better atomization and smoother off-idle throttle-response. bryan nate; why not use the 2-barrel 360 manifold and the big holley 2-barrel g are you looking for a cast iron factory unit or an aftermarket aluminum unit the cast iron will likely be easier to find if you go with a 360 4bbl intake. swap on a set of 360 heads to match the port size if its of concern. most of the aluminum intakes will be for the larger 340/360 port size but should bolt on to the 318 with no problem. hi max an old cast iron stock intake will be fine i just want to put a 4 barrel on my m880. i dont expect a whole lot from it just want more than the puny stock setup its currently running. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

i am sure somebody on e bay has a performer for a 318 which has the correct ports for 318 heads. ebay only shows 2 intakes both are 2 barrel. the ports on the 360 are so much bigger and cause so much reversion youll hate the truck or yourself for doing it that way i was told that 318 may be the 318hd which has the 360 heads already on it. i didnt think that was available until around 81 but ill need to confirm it. a nice 600 cfm holley/carter whatever willl work fine im looking for a holley 650vs 4 barrel. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

all the bs about using a 360 one is just that bs. any of these posters telling you to do that need to have a predawn visit from you!!!! i didnt tell him to use one i simply noted the 360 manifolds are much more numerous and if using one of those 360 heads are recommended. but... the 318 will bolt up if a person were to insist on doing that. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

i myself dont let mine get much below 1/2 tank. an added bonus to that is the sticker shock isnt so bad with the rising fuel costs. i know i can just refuel when the light comes on but thats not the point. im running out of gas before i hit empty get a wooden stick cut some notches in it. just use that instead of the gauge and light or do as i do. fill up your gas tank when it gets to a quarter tank. what happens if you are on empty and an emergency arises that requires you to drive somewhere on a moments notice. if you have allowed the gas to get that low very often it could be wearing the sensors for the mechanical fuel gauge as well as the digital overhead one. imho hawkeye ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

2001 dodge ram slt laramie edition. 5.9l v8 a persistent problem is occurring with my fuel gauges. the analog will read just above empty about 1/16th tank and the overhead console will read anywhere from 512 dte and ill run out of gas. it used to be that when the fuel light would go on i would have about 25 miles to empty and when the console would read 0 dte i would have about 15 miles. the tank is rated at 26 gallons but when empty i usually pump around 28. i usually get around 345 miles per tank. i know i can just refuel when the light comes on but thats not the point. im running out of gas before i hit empty and i dont know if the calibration error will get worse. ive taken it to the dealer 4 times and they said they cant find anything wrong. has anybody else run into this problem or perhaps have a clue to what the problem is thank you. .

sorry guys; 35+ people directly from the newgroup looked at the grille guard for dodge rams and a couple have ordered; and it isnt dodge related sorry but it is ram related - and it is more ontopic than alot of the b- that goes on between the regulars that has nothing to to with the subject or dodge ram trucks.- do you report it also the internet is a positive and safe medium for business. business just have to be careful where and when they post. i thought it was related. many of the shoppers had questions and were looking for a stainless grille guard at a reasonable price. isnt that fair i have had 6 dodge ram trucks since 96 and have found many useful items being sold on the newgroup during that time and alot of valuable information. i apologize that i affended you three or any others; but many have expressed interested or purchased products from us - via the group. and btw - the picture of the grille guard ram is the best ram tough truck we have seen yet. -- true beauty! again i am sorry if i affended you- i will be more careful in my posts; -- dudlee brennfoerder edgar ne 68935 on thu 22 jan 2004 021649 gmt fmb fmbb@sbcglobal.net wrote on tue 20 jan 2004 122800 -0600 dudlee brennfoerder db45116@alltel.net wrote untitled documentlook at this new completely stainless steel grille for the report to abuse@usenetserver.com mac good shot mac. i emailed abuse@alltel.net too but i wasnt sure what all to send them. i sent the details and message source from the message properties. hope that does something. btw how is your truck doing taken the trailer anywhere this winter fmb only one b in fmb i use agent reader... i hit the show all headers thing then copy the whole post into an email to the isp... the rams doing great... got rid of those cheap big-o tires it came with and put on a set of bigger wider 8 ply truck tires... wonderful improvement! truck handles better and the trailer feels 1000 pounds lighter... i think weve been home maybe 3 weekends since we got the tt... even spent thanksgiving at the rv park.. lol been to morro bay twice avila and pismo once each... mostly we go to our home park in coursegold though... its so nice to have heat and a bathroom..... and cali weather mac .

dear lou i have a 97 2500hd ram long bed with the v-10. the hd means the camper package and it does have the overload springs. for several years we had a 10ft fleetwood slide in camper. the mfgs sticker on the camper listed the total weight with water and propane at something like 2900 lbs. and im sure we had several hundred more pounds of stuff in it. i think the bed payload was something like 3200 lbs so we were right at the limit. we bought the truck and camper at the same time intending to use them together. we got the 2500 rather than the 3500 as the truck was and is my daily driver and i didnt want the heavier harder riding 3500 dually. i drove the camper home from purchasing it. the camper pushed the back end down enough to engage the overload springs. the steering was definitely on the light side enough so that i immediately had some air bags installed on the rear axle to trim the truck out level. with the air bags inflated the truck steered and handled much better. the trade off was the brake compensator now assumed the bed was empty. if you dont know the brake compensator is essentially a lever that actuates a valve on the rear axle. when the bed is loaded and the back end goes down the lever compensates by allowing more brake pressure to go to the rear wheels. with the air bags inflated to 50 psi the truck was level and steered real nic

i have a 2003 ram 1500 2wd lb with 4.7l. i had a problem where my manual seat kept creaking like an old bed spring every time i would turn right or left lean on a hill etc. i brought it into two different dodge dealers they all said lets tighten up the track. it did not work. they then claimed to not hear anything. it was easy to demonstrate by sitting still and rocking back and forth. finally i called chrysler to threaten to put in a complaint under the nj lemon law. i really didnt want to give up the truck but i was just fed up. chrysler immediately called one of the dealers and told me to bring it down. i did they first tried the tightening routine again. i then had the mechanic sit on the seat and rock. they finally admitted it was creaking. they then ordered a replacement seat bottom and its been fine since. for the record this has been the best vehicle ive ever owned. with the exception of the seat ive had no reason to bring it back to the dealer. i now have 14500 miles since june of 03. .

thanks. should i just try giving it a jump start then if you think it might just be the battery. the lights do work but maybe theres just not enough power to start the engine i called a car place and they said it was probably the starter but it started fine a week or so ago. if you are able to remove the battery and warm it up by bringing it inside over night. if you want to speed the warm up process set the battery in the bathtub and fill with hot water within an inch or two of the top of the battery dont cover it with water! drop it back in the car and try it! also setting a trouble light up against the engine with a 100 watt bulb for a few hours will help too. just be very carefull where you put it so you dont melt anything! greg .

dudlee i took the advice i got here and had the repair shop take a look. they said after the truck warms up that the converter does cut off the exhaust flow. so i had it replace as well as a new set of spark plugs they were pretty fouled. the car ran fine for about 5 miles it got me back home. then when i ran it later it went about two miles and did the same thing. now iot wont start smells as if the fuel is very rich. any ideas thanks mike mike this is near & dear to me. had my cat plug up on me in december. got a new one on the next day & it ran great since. the longer you run it with it running bad the more things youll need to replace. youll probably want to replace the oxygen sensors also. check the new plugs too just to make sure they havent been fouled already. good luck tom heintz mopar maniac .

on sat 24 jan 2004 204541 gmt tom lawrence tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net wrote i havent tried it because it sounds kind of silly but the manual for my 99 ram says to cycle the computer until the compass calibrate light is on then drive around in circles.... i had to do this once on my 95. if i remember you hold both buttons on the overhead down until cal is displayed. then make two complete circles at about 2-3mph. if that doesnt do it the problem may be the roof has become slightly magnetized and is interfering with the compass. you need to degauss your roof panel with a strong magnet an old speaker will work. while standing in the bed of the truck imagine a 2x2 square centered on the roof panel with the top edge aligned with the windshield. bring the magnet down to within 1/2 of the roof at the upper-left-hand corner of this imaginary square. move it across the width of the square to the right. when you hit the right-hand side bring it about 3-4 closer to you and move it back to the left. at the left edge bring it another 3-4 closer and move back to the right. keep this pattern up until youve covered the whole 2x2 area then take the magnet away. keep a fluid motion throughout all of this - dont stop in any one place pretend youre painting. this will should eliminate any magnetic charges present in the roof panel. you may then have to recalibrate the compass again as above. if that doesnt do it just remember the sun rises in the east sets in the west and moss grows on the north side of the tree. and dont use a magnetic mount cb antenna on the roof! lol mac .
