Canadian trucks & Warranty
From : uguineapig
Q: hello last week the wife and i went looking at trucks for me so i can upgrade my 94 ram 1500 2wd with the 318 engine & 116k miles. we had seen a nice 02 ram 1500 with 10500 miles 4 wd and the 360 engine all for $22.000. as i was looking the engine over i noticed a sticker that was in french and english that the vehicle was equipped with a remote starter i asked the sales women is this a canadian vehicle she looked at the vin and said that she was told that if it began with a 1 it was an american and something else if it was not. i asked about the door sticker and it was made in canada. the dealer a couple years ago of was selling canadian trucks at a very good price but there was a problem with the warranty chrysler usa was not covering them for the full term. how could i tell if this is one i made the mistake of not getting the vin for myself and is there a web site that can tell me everything about this truck retail cost and all dealer options on it from the factory. thanks .

i wouldnt trust that just because the odometer clocks in miles that the truck has a u.s. warranty. its possible that the speedometer was changed without converting the truck in dcxs warranty database. if you have the last eight characters of the vin any dealer can verify the warranty coverage by performing a vip 14 on dealerconnect. if you want post the vin here and ill check it out for you. have a great week. sbh on 22 dec 2003 154415 gmt uguineapig@aol.comnojunk uguineapig wrote hello last week the wife and i went looking at trucks for me so i can upgrade my 94 ram 1500 2wd with the 318 engine & 116k miles. we had seen a nice 02 ram 1500 with 10500 miles 4 wd and the 360 engine all for $22.000. as i was looking the engine over i noticed a sticker that was in french and english that the vehicle was equipped with a remote starter i asked the sales women is this a canadian vehicle she looked at the vin and said that she was told that if it began with a 1 it was an american and something else if it was not. i asked about the door sticker and it was made in canada. the dealer a couple years ago of was selling canadian trucks at a very good price but there was a problem with the warranty chrysler usa was not covering them for the full term. how could i tell if this is one i made the mistake of not getting the vin for myself and is there a web site that can tell me everything about this truck retail cost and all dealer options on it from the factory. thanks canadian trucks have kilometers on the speedo and odo. posted via uncensored-.com - accounts starting at $6.95 - http//www.uncensored-.com the worlds uncensored source .

the vin 1d7hu16z32j145880 .

the vehicle has a warranty coverage code of 510 - canadian coverage. the warranty would not be valid in the u.s. unless the owner could demonstrate that they were canadian residents that were traveling/vacationing in the u.s. the original in-service date for the vehicle was 10/11/01 and the system shows that there are three open recalls. i hope that this information is helpful. have a great week. sbh the vin 1d7hu16z32j145880 posted via uncensored-.com - accounts starting at $6.95 - http//www.uncensored-.com the worlds uncensored source .

imo the only service contract worth having is one that is factory backed. if its not daimlerchrysler dont even bother spending the money. that said you can purchase dcsc coverage for an 02 canadian vehicle if the vehicle is being purchased through a dcx dealer. because the vehicle does not have 3/36 or 7/70 the dealer would have to sell used car coverage. youre smart to be asking these questions before the purchase - many customers dont ask until after the transaction has been completed. good luck and have a great week. sbh thanks scott for the great information now this puts a new spin on the deal. would i be able to pick up the extra warrenty coverage for this when i sign the finance papers and would it be worth it. posted via uncensored-.com - accounts starting at $6.95 - http//www.uncensored-.com the worlds uncensored source .

was equipped with a remote starter i asked the sales women is this a canadian vehicle she looked at the vin and said that she was told that if it began with a 1 it was an american and something else if it was not. you already got your answer but just as an fyi - the first digit of the vin indicates where the vehicle was built - it has nothing to do with where it was sold and what kind of warranty was applied. .

imo the only service contract worth having is one that is factory backed. if its not daimlerchrysler dont even bother spending the money. i have an extended warranty non factory that i just bought 6 months ago on a 99 venture minivan. its good til the venture gets to 100000 miles has 59000 now. it cost $1000 but has saved us $500 already in repairs water pump and an ac problem. its paid for half of its cost already and still has 40000 miles left. you might want to research private warranty providers and pick one up for your used truck purchase. youd still be way ahead considering how much youre saving by eliminating the new car depreciation. -----= posted via feeds.com uncensored usenet =----- http//www.feeds.com - the #1 group service in the world! -----== over 100000 groups - 19 different servers! =----- .
