15 mpg on the highway and 10 mpg in the city is not much to ask. my father has a massive class a motorhome that gets 11 mpg on the hwy. i just bought a 2005 power wagon 2500. i have only driven it 200 km on the highway now since i got it a few days ago and the computer says i am getting 11.8 mpg. this sounds really bad. my window sticker did not show an epa rating and when i called the dealer they just said that it will get the same as the 1500 with hemi with to me sounds like a quit bullshit answer. anybody else out there driving a 2500 ram with hemi that can tell me what kind of city/hwy gas mileage i can expect i imagine that the gas mileage will increase after break in period of the truck right i am also planning on towing a 5500 lb dry travel trailer across country with it and was hoping for 10 mpg with that but if it is 11.8 mpg with no load i am concerned ! you bought a big truck with a advertised hi-performance engine. what the heck did you expect you might pick up a couple mpg when it loosens up a bit and when you start to drive like you have a egg under the gas pedal. what you have is pretty much what you are going to get. i still dont understand why people buy something as large as a full size truck and with such horrible aerodynamics a big engine 355 or 410s and then bitch about horrible mileage. roy .

tbone wrote are you sure that the sending unit is not sold separately yes i am thinking 50 to 75 bucks at a parts store for a sending unit but some new trucks have fuel pumps and sending unit as one unit. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-help-ftopict125513.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=611452 .

suddenly without warning jmc exclaimed 07-jun-05 529 pm as some of you know im a 2001 dakota owner who is currently stationed overseas. the base just upgraded the gas station and in their infinite wisdom now only offer 95 octane gas. my owners manual says my engine could be damaged if i use high octane. will it really if this can indeed damage my engine id like to know how and if theres any way additives id be able to use this gas. otherwise i have to use more expensive options which may include paying the current $6.50 per gallon which is what we pay here with the currently high exchange rate. thanks for any advice! jmc just a quick followup. turns out i shoulda paid attention to the normal octane level of uk petrol - just got back from a 6-day trip and turns out ive been putting 95 octane in my tank every time we take a trip. oddly the one gas station i use locally has low octane gas. if theres a choice of one its always 95 octane. so since ive been using it on and off for a couple of years whatever damage is already being done. after this trip i noticed a bit of knocking. ill put lower octane in as soon as i use some of this up. is there any way to mitigate any damage already done oh and thisll put things in perspective the next time you folks in the us cringe at the gas pumps 6 day trip. 1100 miles or so. something in the line of $300 worth of fuel. argh! last trip we take the dak on. rest of the tour its the 1991 toyota pickup for trips. .

i just read a post in another place were a guy had a dodge 1500 crew cab with a 4.7 and stock 3.55 gears and it was so gutless towing at speed he traded it off for one with a 360 in it. as this thread started no way i would rely on a 4.7 powered crew cab to pull my 22 foot boat with stock gears in it. it could be very embarassing at times. family sedans in the 60s and early 70s had more tow power than that setup does and it is suposed to be a truck too. . i agree that his truck may not be up to the job and if not then he should either trade it for one that is or just get another one specifically for this type of work. making changes like you suggested will hurt the mileage for little benefit considering the small amount of towing he intends to do. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

probably about $50.00 for the part and an hours labor. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving just curious how much would it cost me to fix this problem at a dealer especially if i was not a well informed customer. thanks i on tue 21 jun 2005 032134 gmt ignoramus16736 ignoramus16736@nospam.16736.invalid wrote i ordered the rwal speed sensor from dodgeparts.com. the sensor promptly arrived today. replacing it was easy but a little uncomfortable. could have been much worse with a different vehicle. this fully took care of my truck problems. no idiot lights are lit up. abs check engine lights etc are all gone and my speedometer is functioning perfectly. thanks to everyone for your help and guidance. i -- .
