Can anyone identify these "noises?"

From : smk17

Q: the other noise is sort of a high-pitched squealing whistling noise. if i had to guess id say it was coming from the a/c compressor. or maybe its just the belt squealing on everything. its a fairly new belt. on my 2002 ram the same type of noise was the new air filter. my truck has to have the type that has the 1 piece of foam on the top of it. .

not enough people signing up on the voluntary military system not enough soldiers sailors or bases in reserve thanks to the liberals military personnel doing extended tours because the military is understaffed and many are re-enlisting past their 20 year retirement because of the understaffing . . you do the math. -- budd cochran john 316-17 ephesians 28-9 romans 323 623 our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. it is wholly inadequate for the government of any other. john adams in light of the shit going on in the world today. does this country need to bring back the draft yes or no and why. roy -- posted via a free usenet account from http//www.tera.com .

well as it is a federal requirement to have a cat on the vehicle if it is to be a road use vehicle yes you must have a cat. if you live in a state that does emission tests with out it you will never pass. if you live in an area that does not emissions test and does not look at the exhaust system during inspections you could get away with out one. i was given a v6 dakota and the exhaust is all rusted to hell and needs to be replaced. i dont no exactly what is required in an exhaust system and need some help on what i need. i was gonna put a catback and a glasspack on so far but im not sure if i need a catalyic coverter or not. the glasspack was prob gonna ba a magnalfow and i have a stainless steal catback from another vehicle i had that no longer runs.i no i dont need a resonator and i want the truck loud but legal. thanks for the help -- posted at authors request using fully moderated http//www.autoboardz.com/dakota-forum-112.html interface .

thanks. because im starting to look for new repair shops not worth using dodge dealers anymore i just went to a shop shell that looks good and with good ratings from consumer checkbook and in a preferred location and asked them a few questions. the manager who also says he was a tech for a long time told me i need to find out what kind of coolant was put in there last time extended life vs. regular because thats the kind that should be put in next time--he said its bad to mix the 2 even if he flushes the old out. does that make sense so what did the dodge shop put in there last time...anyone know my dodge dealer closed shop---supposedly moved about 50 miles away. but there is another dodge dealer in this area i could ask assuming all dodge shops use the same thing. .

bnuu5.q93.17.2@.alt.net... just spoke to a friend of my wife who is a car mechanic who makes money by fixing cars. making money fixing cars does not necessarily equate to being a mechanic or technician. he mentioned that it could well be a tranny problem. given the fact that there has been no apparent concentrated attempt at a true diagnosis on this vehicle - just a bunch of it could bes... - his opinion is just that - an un-educated opinion. he advised me that once shit starts on chryslers that it only gets worse and advised me to not do any repairs and to get rid of this truck as soon as possible. ive driven many chrysler products ...and gm...and ford to well beyond 150000 miles without major component problems. watch out for generalizations. most real technicians understand that every vehicle has its peculiarities.....and that generalizations simply do not apply to todays vehicles. diagnosis by trend oh! they all do that.... is not a valid way of solving any problem in todays complex vehicles - yours included. sometimes - when backed into a corner where they cannot come up with a decent solution to a given problem - these people would rather say...... all insert brand here are pure junk. get rid of it before it starts to cost you a lot of money.......and before you continue to ask me questions i cannot answer!. .

i agree 100% on building your own. last dell i bought it had more issues than any of my exs ever had vbg. i built this one im on and i have to say i am more pleased with this than any computer ive owned in the last 15 years. if youd like the specifics of all that i built into it just let me know. its an intel 64 bit and is insanely fast. and never ever in the last year since i built it have i ever had any problems. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels my honest thoughts are build it yourself vice buying one. you will be able to get exactly what you want with out the headaches of customizing a brand name puter. hell id build it for you if you want. outside of that if you can wait a bit hold tight until we see how the amd buy-out of ati turns out. i say this because over the years on-board audio has improved leaps and bounds. with this buy-out i expect to see on-board video to do the same. this can say you some money if you build. for a brand name i would have to say dell or gateway. they provided the best over all c/s when ever we needed to deal with a warranty issue. just make sure you use it in your ram! had to make sure we talked about dodge trucks ya know. when i get my ass to fl im going to need a putor for the house. i want to leave this one here in ma for sue to use and the times when i come up. i dont do a bunch of gaming but i might. i do a lot of reading on the net. i like a big monitor for all the pink bunny pics. i thought about a laptop even more when i was trying to figure out the navigation question but have pretty much settled on a garmin. thanks to all for your help and info on that. anyway a laptop will limit the size of the monitor. so lets hear what ya think especially you folks in the field. brand reason why and price they go for if ya have the info. tia roy .
