Q: i want to get satellite radio for my car not until end of december beginning of january. anyway i have an 02 durango with the infinity system and when i do get satellite i was looking into wiring the sat radio directly to the back of the durango radio with this http//www.crutchfield.com/s-ja4rzj4k2td/cgi-bin/prodview.aspg=251550&i=60714110. first can this be done if so second how would i go about removing the radio to get to the back of it if its something i can do easily without damaging anything id rather do it. ive tried looking for one of those chilton manuals in local bookstores to see if they have anything about radios in them. i couldnt find any copies in the bookstores. there is one at a library in a town not too far away but i just havent gotten up there yet. thanks for any help. j .

mind you i am not saying that the wireless fm mod is great just better then the hard line. thats the exact opposite of my experience. when i was using the wireless i got considerable bleed-through of stray signals. with the in-line modulator input from the antenna is cut off and the only signal available on the radios antenna input is from the modulator. if you want true digital and all that you have to go with a sat ready radio and the tuner for it. digital schmigital... my ears are analog .

what i am looking for is step by step instructions to replace the bushings in the arm itself. thanks .

right because you are not getting direct input from the hard line antenna. depending on what sat system you are looking at xm or sirius both make a unit with an internal wireless fm mod. so wait... a hard-wired fm modulator will sound like crap but the built-in wireless modulator wont if you go xm use the roady 2. http//www.crutchfield.com/s-qheugnlqbcj/cgi-bin/prodview.aspg=247350&i=700sa10109 you can get these for $50 from http//www.xmradio.com because theyre being phased out in favor of the roady xt. the xt is smaller and imo has a better mounting system if youre going to be moving it from auto to home. its got a cradle whereas the roady2 has two or three individual wires that have to be plugged/unplugged. tom basic run-of-the-mill sat radio owner myself inc. readington nj .

how do you get to the back of the instrument cluster to change a bulb remove the dash bezel not sure of the specifics on a 98 dak - dont know if theres any screws holding it in place then remove the screws that hold the instrument cluster in place look carefully - some screws touch the white plastic directly and hold the cluster while others touch the clear plastic cover and just hold the cover to the cluster. you want to remove the ones holding the whole cluster in and leave the ones that hold the cover in place. pull the cluster out a bit and disconnect the electrical connectors then you can remove the cluster completely. the bulbs are held in by bulb retainers from the back. simply turn the retainer counter-clockwise a bit and it will come out. change the bulb twist the retainer back in place and put the cluster back in. .

well then i guess you are right tom and j what the hell do i know and what does years in the car audio and electronics business mean all the customers that we install wireless mods in everything from sat radio systems to blasters for headphones to wireless mods for dvd systems are all flukes. i guess the years of experience going from wired mods of all sorts to the newest wireless ones dont mean squat. so next time all you self proclaimed experts deal with it. well think what you want i only gave you the advice off of 15 years experience so i guess you know more then i. i know that with a roady2 and wireless modulation i pick up all kinds of static... not to mention when driving on a road in proximity to another vehicle with a modulator on the same freq. had this happen several times. i also know that when i installed an in-line modulator all those problems went away. go figure... .

hii have a 1986 3/4 ton dodge pickup360 engine2 wheel drivei dont get any gas from tank to fuel pumpblew line from fuel pump to tank gas started flowingtruck run 2 days or about 75 milesgas stoped againblew line to tankstill no gasits a 25 gal tankcan i drop the gas tankor is there something i should look for from fuel pump to gas tankwould appricate any helpthanks for your timelouie jerry@midrivers.com its easy to drop the tank. on my 90 the fuel hoses were swaged on and i had to cut the swaged aluminum sleeves. since youre dealing with gasoline dont use a dremel or other electric tool. use a hack saw. here is how i got mine out. find a scrap of plywood to put under the tank use a floor jack to lift it a tiny bit. remove the two steel straps and the rubber hose on the gas filler tube. then let the tank down a little. you can then get to the hoses at the top and get them off. then let it down more and remove the wires and let it down. the top of the tank has an opening that has the pickup and fuel level sender. it comes off easily. you may find a bunch of stuff in the tank stopping up the inlet sock. the best thing to clean the tank out with is regular dish soap and very hot water. dawn works great. al
