Buying an '02 1500 4x4.... Any Problems?

From : raksashan

Q: rerikss@bellsouth.net says... paul jensen wrote went to a local drag strip last night. first time in many many years. it was an open night - pay 15 bucks and jr. could run the quarter mile in daddys borrowed lexus. anyway in the middle of the evenings events a guy showed up with a brand new 04 chrysler 300. great looking car but looked a little funny staging next to some of the modified mustangs and camaros. the guy made about 4 runs with times consistently in the mid 14s. certainly wont win any races but not too bad for a big heavy luxury passenger car. hemi had to be. i thought itd be in the low 14s though. jeff if i recall his best was 14.3 worst was 14.8. speeds were all 100 mph+ unmodified stock hemi. eisboch if hes running 100+ mph hes got traction problems or it the weird drive by throttle it and our trucks have is making it launch too soft. with that speed he should be in the 13s. bdk dont forget now that has that esp traction control on it.. .

im looking at getting an 02 ram 1500 slt quadcab 4x4 with a 4.7 magnum v8 and 36k miles spray-in bed liner and auto-start. the truck looks like its in good condition and was well taken care of by the previous owner. im just wondering if there are any known issues with this vehicle from owners that i should know about before buying it. also if its worth the $25k asking price.... kbb.com says $21 to $23k can anyone give some insight $25k sounds like he is trying to get his 36k miles for free. thats probably about what he paid for it. i paid $23000 for my 03 1500 4x4 qc st 4.7 with some upgrades about 1 year ago. he put a lot of miles on for just 2 years the lower kbb price is probably more in line. i havent had a single problem with mine yet but i only have 6000 miles on it so far. knock on wood! ^ .

i got an 02 regular cab with the 4.7. there was stalling problems with mine after about 7000 miles. mainly idiling at a light and then it would feel like it would want to die out. a few other people i knew had the same problem. there was a posting in this group about a year back. i took it back to the dealer and re-programmed it so it wouldnt die out anymore. also there were two recalls i got so far. one for the power mirrors and one for the blower motor harness. hope this helps you out. jason from chicago .
