i had a 97 1500 4x4 with a 5.2 and 5 spd tranny. i put a gibson single cat back exhaust and a k&n filter kit on it at the same time. i noticed an improvement in top end power was much easier to pass without downshifting. mileage went up a bit too i was averaging around 21mpg 22 or a little better if i was easy on the gas pedal. the gibson exhaust had a nice deep mellow tone wasnt at all obnoxious. i think i paid around $300 - 350 for it long time ago not sure. the k&n filter was pretty cool it was just the regular 14 chrome type just a bottom and a nice lid with a round filter looked great bolted right onto the the plenum. my recommendation if your gonna get the air out faster do something to get more in as well. .

my guess is that the relay or speed control is not your ploblem. water ingress is. once you find the relay carefully find the temperature sensor and carefully examine the wiring harnesses and parts for water penitration. steve whenever it rains the engine light comes on my dodge grand caravan and sometimes the radiator fans continue to run after i turn off the engine. they 2 fans will run until the battery is dead. it never happens when it is not raining. i swapped a couple of the relays around and the problem did not show up again. yet a couple of days ago the engine lite came back on coming back to dallas from east texas in heavy rain. this time the radiator fans did not continue to spin and run down the battery when i turned the engine off yet by the time i got home it was not raining. i took the van to autozone and they read the computer code for me. they did not know what it means. in a previous post i was told it was the radiator relay under the aircleaner box but i cannot see any relays underneath there. all the relays appear to be beside the battery and a few under the dash yet there is nothing labeled radiator fans in the bank of relays. searching https//www.rockauto.com i did find some relays that almost look like the ones in the relay bank next to the battery. but what caught my attention was the one that looks like http//www.rockauto.com/ref/smp/smpdetail2.htmlry330.jpg it is labeled engine cooling fan relay i am wondering if this is mounted on the chassis somewhere maybe under the air filter box as i was told earlier. i have 2 questions 1. does the engine cooling fan relay mount on the chassis and if so where is it located can i see it without removing the air filter box. 2. what does the code below indicate is wrong. this is what the autozone ticket says troublecode obdii alpha p code p1491 secondary switch solenoid circuit mulfunction any ideas thanks in advance... -- john behneman john dot behneman at gmail dot com .

miles i give everyone a chance and often a second thru twentieth chance. ive never asked for more than that for myself. this world is too full of strife and hate already to not try to gain a bit of peace in our lives. i had thought to give it another try with a few from this group when i was emailed with questions concerning my health but i was in error. thats why i answered non-friends. oh well their loss not mine. my sewer comment is based on the fun there used to be in the group 10 years ago combined with the accuracy of information available then. now its flames and misinformation. hey if no one else cares fine why should i -- budd because the reliability of dodge trucks have improved not much to talk about. the toyota groups are nothing but political banter and personal agendas for the last 8 years. this is what happens when the cars run like they should. if you want mechanical talk check out audi and bmw groups. .

really i have made a few good friends on the net; some that actually stopped by my home to visit while going thru my area some that will email me with the latest happenings in their family or just to tell me about some stupidity i may have missed in this group. those are the folks i miss from this group. but when someone only wants your email just to be nosey they are not a friend. those are the ones that need not bother to check on me because i dont post much any more. ive got more fun things to do that read this ng like going fishing working on my old motorscooter or watching the arches national park erode. and from the recent discussions ive seen the stuff being posted would have got me yelled at if id posted it. iow nothing but the same crap that was here the last time i was subscribed. and its coming from the ones that yelled at me . . . . . . rotflmbo!!!! sometimes paybacks come with patience . . . . see ya im outta this cesspool. -- budd btw this does not apply to my true friends. -- budd if your true friends are found on usenet you may be on to finding out the cause of your initial frustration. .
