alas ken you are correct however preventative has only been recently accepted into the lexicon. it is a bastardization of preventive and is so commonly used that it is sigh now accepted by some. as mrs hightower my old english teacher would say... mr. simmons if you wanted to keep something from happening would you prevent it or preventate it hmmmmm..... you could add an additive like a preservative to the preventative to prevent the preventable as preventive procedures. it sounds right to me in that sentence. how do you think mrs. hightower feels about the word irregardless -- ken methinks she wouldnt like that either! ^ mike .

this is a long shot but i thought i would ask... i have a 99 ctd with 5-speed. when pulling away from a stop there is a momentary rattle coming from somewhere under the hood sounds like it is right behind or near the firewall on drivers side. the sound is not real loud but it is noticeable. it sounds as though the engine is torquing over and causing something to hit. it disappears quickly once the truck gets moving. iirc there was some issue with the 5 speed. perhaps tom l. has the info. i have yet to spot any marks where anything is rubbing/hitting the motor mounts seem to be ok and i cant get it to make the noise by loading the clutch while the vehicle is stationary. ive never had a clutch chatter on me before so i dont know if it could be a clutch/pressure plate wearing out but it doent make any noise up/down shifting and doesnt feel as though the clutch is engaging roughly nor does it sound quite like what i imagine it would. how many miles on it for some reason i cant seem to convince anyone to ride under the hood and listen for the noise when pulling away from a stop so my long-shot question is... how about you bring it by and i drive and you can curl up under the hood g is the rattle a common/known problem please no its a diesel its supposed to rattle answers thanks. .

ed h. wrote depending on your phone once it is paired with your car you may have to press a button to re-link it not the intial pairing usually just select the yes or no option whenever you take it out of blue tooth range then re-enter range. i think most phones can be set to automatically re-link with any paired device whenever you come into range. if the various devices support it you can also pair multiple devices together for instance 1 car paired with 2 phones or 2 cars paired with 2 phone 1 phone paired with a car and an ear-bug etc.. my treo 650 automatically connects to the u-connect as soon as i turn the key on. no buttons to push. .

richard i have an 01 quad 4x4 and my dash cracked pretty bad also...i left it that way until last year when i found a place called coverlay manufacturing i believe their website is www.coverlaymfg.com. anyway they make a complete formed cover for your dash. all you do is clean your old dash and apply their supplied silicone-based adhesive and have a second person stand on the other side of the truck and lay this into place. if thats not the right website let me know and ill look it up for you on my receipt. you can get these in tan grey or dark grey. it cost me $119.00 plus shipping but it looks really good. i even bought a dash cover after that better late then never and now it looks great!! charlie the oc richard folkman wrote i got my quad cab new in 1999. new years day 2004 i come out and find my dash cracked. had dash replaced. now my dash is cracked again jan 2007 in about the same place. any ideas on what can be causing the dash to crack .
