Big rigs and cummins
From : dan j s
Q: i just got back from a trucking convention. i am talking the 18 wheelers here. it seems everyone has a problem with cummins. they say they are the worst engines in a big truck have to be rebuilt at more frequent intervals etc. now when i was in the marines we ran cummins in almost everything and i dont remember any major issues. then again an average tank or an amtrack doesnt go 100000 miles every 3 months either. so i am curious is there a reason cummins is getting such a bad rap amongst truckers .

which one in particular are you talking about l10 m11 n14 select select plus. i believe thats a load of bs. when people get something stuck in their heads they will find reasons to prove themselves right. like being brain washed that cats are the be all and end all of diesel engines. i wouldnt mind a 600hp cummins select plus if i had to haul 140000lb super-bs. poor maintenance on any engine will shorten its functional life. thats just my oppinion cause i just build industrial diesels i dont have to drive em. i just got back from a trucking convention. i am talking the 18 wheelers here. it seems everyone has a problem with cummins. they say they are the worst engines in a big truck have to be rebuilt at more frequent intervals etc. now when i was in the marines we ran cummins in almost everything and i dont remember any major issues. then again an average tank or an amtrack doesnt go 100000 miles every 3 months either. so i am curious is there a reason cummins is getting such a bad rap amongst truckers .
