Q: tbone wrote i agree with you but what does that have to do with a black box and the insurance companies its not the insurance companies that required their installation. it was big brother. they not only told the auto makers to put them in they also set the standards to which they adhere to such that the information is easily accessable to law enforcement. so what it still cannot be randomly accessed and appears to serve no purpose other than to add information to an active investigation such as an accident. do you have something to hide now as far as insurance goes the black boxes go way beyond what they need to know in setting rates and in claims adjustments. how so the boxes do not tell the circumstances of a situation yet the insurance companies will deny claims based on such information. that is not true since the insurance companies will never see just the black box info. that info would come to them as part of the police investigation where it would be used to confirm or disprove the stories told by those involved in the acciident. you are the one that often advocates laws to keep corporations from taking from the people. that is correct. here is an example of a law that does not served the publics interest. sure it does it provides an impartial witness to an accident that will help the police determine the actual cause and who is at fault which translates into the correct persons driving record and insurance rates being affected. instead it serves the corporate world. so why are you ok with it how does this serve the corporate world and if it did why would the champion of the corporate world you be against it -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .
