Anti theft for my Ram 2500
From : tom lawrence
Q: i need to know how to disable the starter fuel pump and lock the brakes. i want to activate this in the event the vehicle suffers a broken glass or entree with out the key. do you know enough about electronics to make something yourself if so youre going to need a complete wiring diagram - not just a couple of references. get a factory service manual http//www.techauthority.daimlerchrysler.com the starter can be disabled by breaking the switched power line to the starter relay. the fuel pump can be disabled similarly. as for locking the brakes no - thats not something easily done without a lot of custom work on the hydraulic system. best to stay away from that one. opened the doors broke the ignition switch and drove away. i want to secure the truck with no more or start and warning horn and strobe light. my wife wants a picture taker added too. i understand your frustration - but youre letting yourself get carried away. one of the most effective anti-theft devices is a hidden fuel pump cutoff switch. hide a switch somewhere underneath the seat is a good spot and simply cut the fuel pump power wire underneath the truck and run both sides up to this switch. turn the switch off when you park your truck. the theif is still going to break your glass still going to rip your ignition column up still going to start your truck and still drive it away. however hes only going to get about 500 ft. with it before the residual pressure in the fuel rail is used up and the engine just plain dies. at that point no ones going to stick around and try and troubleshoot the truck - theyre going to cut and run. another simple anti-theft trick if youre so mechanically inclined and you have a 4wd truck is to modify the transfer case shift handle. i actually did this to my 95 ram. cut the shifter handle below the boot as low as you can get on the straight piece. thread the ends of the cut rods and get a coupling nut to fit the threads. screw the coupling nut to the shift rod the piece left below the boot and tack-weld it in place. screw the top of the handle back in place. now park the truck shift the transfer case into neutral apply the parking brake because the trans wont hold the truck now unscrew the shifter handle and take it with you. i always thought about the look on the dopes face as he shifted the truck into drive stepped on the gas and went absolutely nowhere. .

certainly would make it a lot easer to winch the truck up on the trailer !!!!! bg so what you want to plan for every contingency okay - add a mercury switch a detonator and about a half a pound of semtex to the list. thatll take care of the flatbed thief .

lol no just that when those guys that look professional roll up to your truck parked somewhere besides your house no one thinks anything of it while they are loading it on the rollback grant steering wheel company had an idea a while back where they had a removable steering wheel setup to stymie the casual thief.but steering wheel air bags pretty much took care of that the whole point being if a professional thief wants your vehicle aint much you can do about it. the casual/joy rider type hell yes especially if you could have a message display on the video screen in the dash as he puts it into gear you have just activated a small nuclear device. have a nice day!!!! must be all that time in the navy got to always have a contingency plan!!!!! bg so what you want to plan for every contingency okay - add a mercury switch a detonator and about a half a pound of semtex to the list. thatll take care of the flatbed thief ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .
