i used a multi channel amp before in another car...but the stereo separation with this setup is phenomenal. the amps arent large you dont need them large bridged mono and there is plenty of bump. front amps are d100ii 1 for front left one for front right mounted under the center seat to the seat itself. the crossovers are mounted to the floor below them. the rears get d60ii one each side mounted behind the rear seat and a d200ii for the subs. the only thing u see is the sub box and head unit. im thinking of an lcd display myself for rearward view and such since i need to hook up to trailers a lot. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ice angels that is a system i would love to hear. here is what i am running. jvc headunit/dvd player i have a 7.2 169 widescreen in the center console audiobahn pre-amp/eq/crossover planetaudio speakers in the front cv in the rear 2 10 mtx 6000 series subs all powered by a mtx 5 channel amp gut and replace is what i did in my qc. alpine head unit with soundtream amps x 5 all bridged mono 2 pairs of soundstream separates a pair of 8 sounstream subs 2 audio control crossovers. best system ive ever had. and dont scimp on your interconnects. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ice angels the biggest problem that most of the so called premium systems have especially the infinity is that even with the factory install amplifier they are under powered. an aftermarket head unit regardless of brand will make them sound a lot better. for the best results though you may want to consider either doing a complete system replacing everything or by passing the factory amps and installing a new though not huge aftermarket amp. joe wrote havent heard the alpine but the infinity in my 03 dak is awful. i have the infinity in my 01 ram that sounded horrible. i replaced the stock headunit with an alpine and it now sounds great. the speakers are decent but the headunit was awful. .

1 just what exactly should i look for to see if the u joint is bad assuming its on the driveshaft youd look for any slop in the driveshaft by trying to turn it back and forth while holding the rear pinion still with a big pair of channel locks. also any apparent grease leaking out passed the cup seals on a stock u-joint are a tell-tale sign of impending failure. and 2 how hard is it to diy replace it. actually pretty easy. you remove the driveshaft by unbolting the straps at the rear differential yoke and unbolt the center carrier bearing from the frame if you have an extended cab longbed truck then pull the slip joint out of the transmission or transfer case if you have a 4x4. have the rear end raised up on jackstands or the vehicle parked facing downhill to prevent fluid loss out of the transmission/transfer case while the slip yoke is out. remove the snap rings with a pair of pliers squeeze them together and pull them out then with a ball joint/u-joint press borrowed/rented from your local auto parts store press the u-joint out pick up a cheap service manual like a haynes #30041 from the auto parts store for details and pictures on this. youll also use the press to press the new u-joint caps in. re-install the snap rings and re-install the driveshaft. best to do both if youre going to do one - u-joints are cheap. also mark the orientation of the slip yoke in relation to the driveshaft and the driveshaft in relation to the rear axle yoke so everything goes back together the same way. go easy when re-installing the slip yoke into the back of the transmission/transfer-case - you dont want to damage the oil seal. also wipe down the slip yoke thoroughly and apply a little trans fluid or oil over the surface of the slip yoke again to let is slide through the seal nice an easy. .

mike wrote picked up my 2006 durango limited last thursday. i love it but the alpine sounds like crap compared to my 04 durangos infinity. anyone notice the same probably speakers. ive never listened to an oem alpine deck. ive used alpine aftermarket decks in every vehicle ive owned including my 2004 durango. awesome sound. thanks. the speakers break up at half volume. the infinity held tight until my eardrums were about to burst. i wonder if i can bitch about it to the dealer -- some people are like a slinky.....not really good for anything but you still cant help but smile when you shove them down the stairs. .
