i have a 97 ram. under heavy acceleration or acceleration up an incline the air conditioner stops blowing. letting up on the acceleration or peaking the hill and itll start blowing again. what could be causing this and whats the potential fix on it thanks mark w mark im assuming this is under wide open throttle & that it stops blowing cold air. that is completely normal. the compressor has a cutout under wot so that the a/c compressor doesnt rob any horsepower. if its switching to blowing out of the defroster vents then you probably need a new check valve at your power brake booster. hope that helps. tom heintz mopar maniac .

if its the same as my 94 it is a common problem with rams. there is a fix that goes in the vacuum line to upgrade to a larger vacuum resovier. it is a dodge part. i believe there is a tsb on this. the ac doesnt stop blowing it diverts the air to the vents up next to the bottom of the windshield. si mark w wrote i have a 97 ram. under heavy acceleration or acceleration up an incline the air conditioner stops blowing. letting up on the acceleration or peaking the hill and itll start blowing again. what could be causing this and whats the potential fix on it thanks mark w .

miles wrote mike simmons wrote regarding coleman iirc they are no longer built by coleman. i think fleetwood bought the rights to the name several years ago. fleetwood has been building them for quite a few years. but this past summer there seems to be some sort of dispute between fleetwood and coleman. fleetwood cant use the coleman brand name anymore pending legal disputes. not sure what its all about but the two have split and their websites have removed each others names completely. iirc thats what the original agreement was. it isnt any squabble between coleman and fleetwood its the way it started out. coleman let them use their name for a specified number of years. apparently time has run out on that agreement. that would mean the folding trailers produced by fleetwood would still employ the coleman features just can not use their name. hd in ny .

my 2001 did something similar. the vent selection would change from dash to defrost under load. vent position selection is vacuum controlled and when the unit loses adequate vacuum it defaults to the defrost position. make sure you have the proper check valves installed in the vacuum line feeding the control unit then look for vacuum leaks replacing a cracked hose fixed my problem. o. *********** i have a 97 ram. under heavy acceleration or acceleration up an incline the air conditioner stops blowing. letting up on the acceleration or peaking the hill and itll start blowing again. what could be causing this and whats the potential fix on it .

how do you go about finding the leak there are so many hoses. is there a spray or trick to it my 2001 did something similar. the vent selection would change from dash to defrost under load. vent position selection is vacuum controlled and when the unit loses adequate vacuum it defaults to the defrost position. make sure you have the proper check valves installed in the vacuum line feeding the control unit then look for vacuum leaks replacing a cracked hose fixed my problem. o. *********** i have a 97 ram. under heavy acceleration or acceleration up an incline the air conditioner stops blowing. letting up on the acceleration or peaking the hill and itll start blowing again. what could be causing this and whats the potential fix on it .
