Aftermarket Catalytic Converters?

From : mroutdoorsie

Q: given the well documented problems with dodge catalytic converters i was wondering if anyone had any experience or thoughts on aftermarket replacements such as the fat catz high flow cats being sold on ebay. ive read a thread or two on this list that make me wonder if its even legal ive got a 97 dodge dakota with 85k so its just past the warranty period. however this will be my 2nd cat. the first one went out around 30k. so i wonder does the 80k warranty apply to the truck or to the part since this cat only has 55k on it the warranty is on the truck so your converter is out of warranty. denny .

you probably only have two. one would be just at the input of the converter usually on top and the other one is where you found it. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving hello all i have a 1996 ram 1500 5.9l gas 4x4 qc. the check engine light came on and gave me trouble codes 12 21 55. i went looking on the www for information on the 02 sensors because of the 21 code and it looks like i have 4 two before and two after the catalytic converter. i tried to find them under the hood and from the bottom looking up but didnt know quite where to look. i assume the two afters are screwed into the exhaust pipe somewhere behind the catalytic converter. i even went to www.autozone.com to there component location tool to get more of an idea but it just says under hood center lower engine area driver side of engine mounted in exhaust pipe with different sides listed for one two three and four it doesnt say which is before/after/left/right. well the only thing i can find is a single sensor screwed into the exhaust about 4 inches behind the catalytic converter. can someone give me more specific instructions on where to find the sensors thanks! bruce morgan .
