its behind the dash if you are going to take the dash apart and check it just replace it maxpower wrote possibly the voltage limiter behind the dash is faulty assuming the charging system is not going into an over charge state the voltage limiter maintains 5 volts to the gauges glenn beasley chrysler tech where is the voltage limiter located is there any way to test or replace it thank you for the quick reply! i do not believe the charging system is overcharging from what the alternator gauge says. when truck is stopped and lights are on it is actually discharging just a little. -- nick remove number one if replying by electronic mail .

jerry wrote maybe maybe not .......... read the tsb very close and see if your transmission requires the atf+4 or +3. http//dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/21-004-04.htm this is the same one nosey posted and if you read it you will see there are exceptions. my truck for example is listed but it came from the factory with atf+3 and that is what i still have in it. am i reading this tsb wrong it says atf+4 is recommended for all chryslers except those listed above. well above it lists just about everything! it even lists my new 2004 durango that was factory filled with atf+4 and whose manuals specifies atf+4. my 2001 ram was also factory filled with atf+4 and specd as such. .

a few dealers here have that gimmick and thats all it is a gimmick. they will not actually give you any more for a trade than the wholesale auction price which is usually below the so called blue book trade in value. theyll show you that theyre giving a high trade in value if you pay well over invoice for the new car but its all smoke and mirrors. the msrp gimmick has so many deductions its just absurd. very rarely is it worth it to trade in a car in my opinion. in some states the sales tax on the new car is based on new car price - trade value. in that case it is a bit better but not much. greg surratt wrote i got a letter today from one of the local dealers saying they are willing to pay the original msrp* manufacturers suggested retail base price for your vehicle bold in many cases unbold. *deductions will be made for equipment failure body damage reconditioning costs mileage $0.35/mile. first off i wonder what the difference is between msrp which i thought was manufacturers suggested retail price and the manufacturers suggested retail base price somehow im thinking base price is the vehicle with no options so id lose the $4000 credit for the diesel and secondly at 50000 miles are they going to dock me 35 cents a mile for a total of $17500 right off the top last time i checked book was about $14k. base price of $27k - $17.5k leaves $9.5k. hell of a deal dontcha think im starting to remember why i dont like shopping for vehicles. greg .

i just looked at t.s.b. 21-004-04 dated march 16 2004 and in black and white it clearly stated that all dakotas 1989-2004 are to be using atf 4. this will be a fun one to fix. how is that dealers get five stars again. yea you are reading it wrong. here is below whats listed above. the models listed are the ones applicable to the tsb. all tsbs are worded this way. bill note this bulletin applies to all transmissions manufactured by chrysler except for 1999 and earlier minivans with the 41te/ae transmission this service bulletin does not apply to all aw-4 transmissions sprinter transmissions crossfire transmissions and wg bodies equipped with a w5j400 or nag1 transmission sales code dgj. -- jerry wrote maybe maybe not .......... read the tsb very close and see if your transmission requires the atf+4 or +3. http//dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/21-004-04.htm this is the same one nosey posted and if you read it you will see there are exceptions. my truck for example is listed but it came from the factory with atf+3 and that is what i still have in it. am i reading this tsb wrong it says atf+4 is recommended for all chryslers except those listed above. well above it lists just about everything! it even lists my new 2004 durango that was factory filled with atf+4 and whose manuals specifies atf+4. my 2001 ram was also factory filled with atf+4 and specd as such. .

got a question if some one wants to help with some ideas. my trucks brake lights arent functioning. i have checked all bulbs and the 20 amp fuse in the engine compartment and they all appear goodactually swapped spots with the 20 amp fuse with another. turn signal and running lights work so i doubt it could be a wiring problem. my only other guess would be the brake light switch on the brake pedal. anyone else have a similar problem and what you did to fix from the looks the brake switch could be a pain in the butt to get out so if there is another fuse i am missing....i would rather replace that. .
