ANOTHER problem with Ram driveline?
From : mac davis
Q: check your fluid level before you trash another gearbox. i think your fluid level is low and under braking the remaining oil is running forward away from the pump pick up and the pump is cavitating. this causes the clutch line pressure to drop allowing the clutches to slip. steve ok i guess the ram is going back to the dealer again.. 99 qq 2wd 5.9/auto/355 lsd the first time in they changed the u-joints rebuilt the rear end and changed a valve body in the tranny.... the truck shifted correctly again the vibration stopped and the grinding noise went away.. 6 months and maybe 3000 miles later the tranny started a minor version of the same problem.... late or no shift into 3rd... back into the shop they rebuilt the whole tranny.. now 4 or 5 months and about 4000 miles later its got what is either a new problem or a hang over from the old one... wanted a few opinions/guesses before we take it in next week as you guys have been pretty much right every time and it helps when talking to the dealer... especially since all the above work is covered by the warranty we bought from them.. after driving on the freeway when you stop at the exit there is a slipping feel and sound when you move from a stand still again... the 1st time it happened we thought that my wife was just spinning a bit on gravel as it only seems to last for about a second and then doesnt happen again until the next time you pull off the freeway.. we took 2 trips this month to baja and to wa. and it happened at almost every exit that we pulled off on... never seems to do it in traffic or anything just when coming off the freeway... it seems to feel like the right rear wheel but its hard to tell.. maybe a clutch in the limited slip any input appreciated as usual.. thanks.. mac please remove splinters before emailing .

thanks thats what i needed. i bought it from a private party guy from work about three months ago it didnt come with a manual. i went to autozone to look through the haynes manual but they didnt have any for dodge trucks 94 & up so i went to 2 different book stores and struck out both times. chris well their isnt really a 100k check-all it goes through different things at different miles.this is for a 2000 ram 1500 so. a 1500 at 90k change engine oil replace filter replace air filter replace spark plugs inspect front wheel bearings. clean and repack if required 4x2 lubricate front susp. ball joints 4x4 inspect break linings inspect drive belt replace if required at 105k change oil replace oil filter flush coolant if it has been 30k since last inspect drive belt replace if required .

roy perhaps your frustrations toward me are the result of you behaving as the customers i have descrbed. your warranty policy book is still crisp clean and unread; yet you stand at the dealership informing them of what should have been covered. reality hurts when it hits close to home. doesnt it brent .

1995 ram van with v-6. when warm and cruising will start hesitation and bucking to varying degrees from slight to that of backfiring no power worse on incline.the computor has been replaced the fuel pump was replaced with a carter unit several months ago.was running fine for several months after the fuel pump replacement unrelated problem i believe no engine codes are setchecked with sophisticated matco testerrealtime info seems ok.the fuel pump relay has recently been replaced also.any educated guesses on where to start .

jack marley wrote i have a 04 durango. i understand it doesnt use all 5 gears going up or down. anybody know how it works. im not talking about the tow. thanks jack marley the 5th gear is actually a second 2nd gear. depending on load the transmission will use one or the other as it upshifts from 1st. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .
