on a veh that old chances are probably close to 99% that its low. for what its going to cost to pursue/investigate the other options i myself would be awfully tempted to add a can 12 oz of 134a. your symptoms are pretty classic low charge. all you need is the little adapter hose and one can of 134a. do not invert the can. leave it right side up. have a friend whos done it before show you how. ive been nursing a 97 ram back to cool air for the past 3 years by adding a can of 134a at the start of every a/c season. so far thats all its taken. your mileage may vary but my own experience in hiring a pro to fix this kind of thing is it costs a lot and the fix never seems to last. once you start paying to get your auto a/c fixed it seems to become an every 2-year ordeal thereafter. tithing to the church is one thing tithing to some repair shop is a whole other matter. webmaster@removethis.carolinabreezehvac.com writes hi all. my a/c compressor on my 95 caravan keeps cycling on and off every 7 or 8 seconds 7 seconds on then 7 seconds off...etc. the air just gets slightly cool coming out of the vent into the cabin but not even close to the coldness it should have. do i just need to recharge with r-134a what could cause the compresseor to cycle like it does please help!! low charge over charged bad low pressure switch bad high pressure switch clogged metering device leaking system bad clutch bad cycle switch want more chances are that its low but on 134a systems you dont just go slapping a can in it. recover and weigh in the proper charge as indicated for the system. -- help support satellite radio! your local radio broadcasters through their powerful nab lobbyiests are currently pushing a bill through congress that if passed would block the satellite radio services from carrying local content traffic & weather please call your elected representatives at 202 225-3121 and urge them to oppose hr 4026. we need your help please. http//www.xmradio.com/grassroots/index.jsp .

i thought that the us was the only country who refused to sign the worldwide ban on freon and freon-like compounds. i would tend to believe that the us produces slightly more ozone-damaging compounds than you average grain of sand or big business wouldnt be pouring money into lobbying the government to refuse to cooperate with the rest of mankind in the interest of protecting earning per share. i seem to recall that the majority of the usa based scientists who are in this field don not support the refusal to sign position as well. probably just one of those things like cigarettes that will take forty+ years of expert scientific resistance to acknowledge that there may be some sort of connection to depletion of the ozone layer from chlorine based hydrocarbon gasses. perhaps if the ceos of us corporations feel that there is no problem we should have the tobacco companies produce some specially labeled packs of cigarettes with no warning label and mandate that as a reward for these ceos demonstration of sound ethics by pumping that crap into the atmosphere by hundreds of thousands of tons per year they will smoke two packs minimum per day for their remaining time on the planet as environmental preservation experts. unless of course they show signs of developing cancer in which case their daily regimen of smokes be upped to three packs. as a taxpayer i would have no problem with my tax dollars sponsoring such a reward system. on tue 20 jul 2004 032116 gmt nospam.clare.nce@snyder.on.ca wrote on sun 18 jul 2004 122224 -0500 bob m ram1220@vzavenue.net wrote no ill admit thats not the right way but it usually works out to be the cheapest. no one other than someone whose livelihood depends on charging you several hundred bucks for a/c service is going to complain because you sought out the cheap way. the environmental concern is total crap. the united states is the only country in the world that subscribes to this absurdity which is rooted largely in profit and greed for a/c system service providers and the chemical industry. im sure theres scientific proof but in the grand scheme of things were barely a grain of sand on the beach. everywhere else in the world today they think nothing of venting every chemical known to mankind to the atmosphere. whether we do it or not will have no measurable effect. yoiu are wrong on at least one count. the usa is not the only country concerned with refrigerants in canada you can not buy refrigerant in retail cans and need a registration number to buy it in bulk. this is true of r12 r22 and r134a. the usa uses more refrigerant per capita by a very large margin than any other country in the world. think about this; today in mexico you can still purchase chlordane. .
