back to your childish bs again i see maxi. if you actually bothered to read it i did say no increase in performance and nothing about maintenance. ill repeat for the hard of understanding among you..... if the gap stays more stable its performance is better over the long run. thus there is an increase in performance above non platinum tipped plugs over the long run. much bs snipped for brevity the point here is that despite your claim not all of us feel that platinum plugs are a waste of time and energy. -- max give a man a match and he is warm for a short while. light him on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life. but why would you want to do that the general opinion in the group is that they do little if anything as far as performance and cost a hell of a lot more. bullshit as usual. platinum plugs wear longer as the platinum is harder than the mild steel used in plugs. thus it cuts down on electrica erosion and keeps the gap more accurate over a longe period of time. a set of autolite platinum cost little more than normal plugs. a more accurate gap works better than worn electrodes thus not a performance gain but a performance edge over time. the goofy multi-electrode plugs are a waste of money but platinum is a solid maintenance saver. i call that a significant reason to spend a few extra bucks. back to your childish bs again i see maxi. if you actually bothered to read it i did say no increase in performance and nothing about maintenance. now if you follow the maintenance requirements of the vehicle as so many of you in here both suggest and demand then the copper plugs will work perfectly. you do realize that platinum plugs do have different electrical characteristics than their copper core counterparts and at the same gap deliver a weaker spark due to their lower resistance and their smaller electrodes increase the chance of a spark blowout. they are also not quite as strong as copper plugs especially copper truck plugs like the champion truck plug and may physically fail in that usage. if they were the perfect plug for all circumstances copper plugs would no longer be made or much more difficult to find considering the advantages in maintenance of the platinum plugs for the small increase in price alone. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

do any of you folks that work for a dealer know if a rear bumper and back bars from a 2002 dodge 2500 pick up will fit on a 2005 dodge 2500 pick up tia roy the part numbers for the bumper and brackets are different. i guess its as the old saying goes...with a torch welder and a little intelligence anything will fit... good luck!! denny .

that is the wrong one. the one on the rear controls both the speedometer and supplies information to the abs system. there is a single bolt and bracket that holds it down. remove the bracket and it pulls straight out. replace that sensor and your problems should disappear. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i only replaced the one on the transmission not relizing that there was one on the rear as well. im not sure how that comes out though. it doesnt look like it screws in. .

common urban legend and false is that if your vehicle has a check engine code stored you can clear it by disconnecting the battery for 30 secs and then immediately pass an obdii emissions test before the light comes on again. yes that will clear the code but here in texas likely pther areas too you wont pass the emissions test. whenever you disconnect the battery or reset your ecu with an obdii scan tool your ecu will store several not ready codes indicating that a recent reset has occurred. it will take typically somewhere between 50100 miles of driving for these not ready codes to clear and change to ready. the inspection station should explain this to you and tell you to come back in 48 hours and put at least 50100 miles on the vehicle between now and then. they will also usually give you a retest for free. this should also be explained on a large placard on the wall of the inspection station. the obdii emissions test can also determine if your check engine light is defective i.e. bulb removed. it does this by telling the inspector whether or not the mil lamp is on. if their test says it should be on but it isnt on they will make you get it fixed before they will pass you. writes pulling the battery will shut off the light. but unless you have repaired the problem that set the code it will come back anyway. if your getting the vehicle inspected soon in an area that checks for codes tell them you had the battery out. and watch them roll on the floor laughing and then they tell you to drive it for a couple hundred miles before youo try to get it inspected again .

i understand that tom. i was wondering if he replaced the transmission speed sensor instead of the one on the rear axle. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving yep. which speed sensor did you replace iirc there is one at the transmission and one on top of the rear at least it is that way on the 97. the rwal uses the one on the rear axle. theres an output speed sensor on the transmission but in 99 the speedometer signal comes from the abs computer either 4w or rwal systems which in turn comes from the rwss. the transmission sensor wouldnt affect the speedometer. .

rm wrote does anyone know if the trouble codes detected and stored in the pcm can only be cleared by using the obd-ii scan tool or we can do it by simply disconnecting the system from the battery thanks. - p holds envelope to forehead to divine information as to year and vehicle sorry my pshycic powers are non functional today. if it helps my 99 1500 clears when you pull the battery. thanks for the reply. my ford taurus recently has a trouble code detected. i thought the odb-ii codes and the related processes are quite standardized. pulling the battery will shut off the light. but unless you have repaired the problem that set the code it will come back anyway. if your getting the vehicle inspected soon in an area that checks for codes tell them you had the battery out. ----== posted via feeds.com - unlimited-uncensored-secure usenet ==---- http//www.feeds.com the #1 group service in the world! 120000+ groups ----= east and west-coast server farms - total privacy via encryption =---- this wont work for nys inspection. some codes are set after certain tests are run. these tests run during certain driving cycles. disconnecting the battery makes these tests start over again. if you go in for inspection right after battery disconnect any test that hasnt had the required amount of drive cycles will show up as incomplete. you are only allowed 2 3 not sure of the number incomplete tests before your inspection fails. if you inform them before they hook up they will usually scan for the drive cycles and either tell you to leave or if your ok they will run the test bullshit .

you can replace them with platinum plugs from just about any vendor without voiding the warranty providing that they are the correct heat range for the engine but why would you want to do that the general opinion in the group is that they do little if anything as far as performance and cost a hell of a lot more. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving almost time for replacing spark plugs. since their not platniums that came with the truck and not to void the factory warranty could i replace them with platinum plugs and if so which vendor would be the most beneficial any advice would very helpful. .

are you sure about that there are 3 error codes that deal with the speed sensors. error code 6 deals with erratic readings while rolling and would only trip the light when moving but error codes 9 and 10 deal with expected resistance in the sensor wiring including the sensor and i would think that they would trip the light regardless of motion. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving you didnt mention if it had rear or 4 wheel abs. if you have 4 wheel abs it could still be a failed sensor on one of the front wheels causing the abs a bad speed sensor doesnt cause the lights to come on until theres movement. .

the abs and parking brake lights come on when you start the truck and never go off. replaced the speed sensor and that did nothing. the lights are still on and the brakes are fine. any other suggestions if the lights never go out that indicates a more serious problem - the abs computer failed one or more of its self-tests. could be air in the lines - low fluid level - or an electronics problem somewhere. other than the low fluid level which i really doubt is the issue here theres not much you can do yourself. you need someone with the proper electronic diagnostic equipment to look at it. unfortunately that usually means a trip to the dealership as few independent shops have any equipment to talk to the chrysler abs system. .
