Q: -- budd thats probably the info i need. she is a small block. the only two chrysler motors that i have any experience with is the 318 and the 383. that and fixing that roll pin that seemed to break on the distributor of the slant six. that was about 20 years ago. and then only on the driving and minor maintenance end. thanks again for the help. whats the difference between a bad golfer and a bad skydiver one goes whack darn and the other goes darn whack. on sun 12 dec 2004 084709 -0500 maxpower wrote your local dodge dealer does anyone have a link to a dodge parts supplier on line. preferably with specifications. you wouldnt think that they would be hard to find but i am looking for an oil dipstick. i have an 87 dodge d-100 custom. i believe it started with a slant six. that has been replaced with a v-8. i thought it was a 318 and ordered a dipstick it was about 3 inches to long. the stick that i currently have is 29 inches long from the end to the stop for the tube. yes i have done the change the oil and filter to check if it is the correct stick. any help is appreciated. ordered the one that was wrong from my local dodge dealer. you think that they would have specs on their parts. . 222 294903 0001hw.bde248d9002c0d1bf04075b0@.planttel.net on sun 12 dec 2004 145135 -0500 toby wrote try www.mydodgeparts.com you can send them a email thanks ill do that. on sun 12 dec 2004 084709 -0500 maxpower wrote your local dodge dealer does anyone have a link to a dodge parts supplier on line. preferably with specifications. you wouldnt think that they would be hard to find but i am looking for an oil dipstick. i have an 87 dodge d-100 custom. i believe it started with a slant six. that has been replaced with a v-8. i thought it was a 318 and ordered a dipstick it was about 3 inches to long. the stick that i currently have is 29 inches long from the end to the stop for the tube. yes i have done the change the oil and filter to check if it is the correct stick. any help is appreciated. ordered the one that was wrong from my local dodge dealer. you think that they would have specs on their parts. .

scanman on your application the hp gains come from allowing more are with less restriction to be available for the engine. the factory located the air box to take in fresh outside air. the problem is that air boxes are the last component designed on the engine compartment and are usually undersized because of room limitations. with your truck this is true. you want to use a free flow cold air kit to get the best gains as opposed to a cone and filter only design. the cold air kit wont make the air any cooler than the stock box but it will isolate the larger filter area to prevent warm engine air from spilling into the air flow. fuel efficiency gains are a result of increased low end hp and torque. an increase in both reduces the amount of throttle opening to move the vehicle. most people that make this modification dont realize any economy gains initially because they enjoy the extra performance and tend to drive a bit erratically for a while. once they go back to the pre modification driving habits they will see improved economy. happy motoring scanman wrote investigating installing one of these. they claim 5-15hp gain through less air restriction and greater flow with up to 5mpg greater gas mileage. includes everything including the tube to reinstall the air intake sensor. ok here is my question. after examining the proposed area of modification this intake sensor is a temperature sensor not a flow sensor. so how will installing this mod improve my hp and gas mileage in my mind i am thinking ok i get cooler air which hits the sensor which measures cooler air and tells the computer to make the gas mixture richer. alright this would explain the higher horsepower but not the fuel mileage. so what am i missing here thanks in advance. - .

tom it is 2wd so i will crawl under and check for it at the tail shaft as you described...the speedometer seems to be working fine so i will look for a bad wire. if no luck i will hunt down a wiring diagram. thanks again for the info. you saved me hours of hunting and pecking. paul tom no i do not have to drive it. light goes on immediately. did what you said and it flashed 9 times...so according to what you said the codes means it has a bad speed sensor wiring/resistance. now not to be stupid but is that the sensor that is on top of the rearend pumpkin with only a two wire plug on it....thank you very much for the info by the way. the speed sensor on your truck is an electronic module either in the end of the transmission tailshaft for 2wd trucks or in the transfer case for 4wd trucks. the sensor in the rear diff. is the rear wheel speed sensor - for your model year it is used only by the abs controller to detect rear-wheel lockup or pending lockup. strange that the brake controller would report the speed sensor as bad yet you didnt indicate any problems with your speedometer. this could possibly by a break in the wiring from the speed sensor to the brake controller. the pcm has its own input from the speed sensor so im assuming the output is spliced somewhere to also feed the abs controller. i dont have a factory wiring diagram for your year truck so im afraid i cant offer any more specific information than that. if youre friendly with a local dealership service dept. id go down there and ask if you can photocopy the wiring diagrams from a 1996 service manual to show you the exact connections between the vehicle speed sensor and the brake controller then take it from there. .

i guess i should have said rocker arm instead of tappet. my b i have a 360 engine 1975 plymouth in my 80 d150 pick up three speed over drive purple shaft cam . i did not change the cam bearings but i noticed thet had no grove for the oil. the oil passage-ways go to the heads and are clear if the engine is stopped at the proper place to allow the cam journal to line up. it looked like the oil should get to the tappets twice for each engine revolution. i have started the engine and run it for 10 or 15 minutes at all rpms. runs fine but no oil to the tappets. what am i missing why do you think theres no oil to the lifters visual lifter noise what is the actual measured oil pressure if the oil pressure is low and the lifters are noisy one of the gallery plugs in the block might be missing. installing the incorrect lifters will also bleed off pressure and cause the lifters to be noisy. john .

$1500 for an evap core condeser and lines is about $1000 mark up over a well paid job. really you think that job could be done for $500 youve got about $100 for the core $230 for a condensor $90 for the lines. theres $420 just in parts. that comes up close to $500 when you add the recovery/recharging and you havent even touched the labor portion of the bill. so where do you go that offers free labor .

back in the early 80s i owned a chevy chevette yea i know and it had a diesel in it. it clattered a lot and every pump jockey always told ya need a valve job but it got 56 mpg and it ran like a top. it also had a 5-speed and was a lot of fun for a disposable car. when i sold it it had 160000 miles on it. -- randy id rather be camping i agree completely! vws technology is so good i cant understand why nobody else is willing to go that route. i was very interested to see the on the jeep liberty thinking it would be a mercedes benz engine but it is coming from an italian company. time will tell. they need to offer diesel in more smaller packages like the tdi. i want a diesel dont really want a giant truck nor can i afford it. john i plan to trade my 97 5.9 gas truck on a new cummins ho 6 speed. i made the decision after towing my 5500 lb trailer cross country. my daily driver is an 01 vw beetle tdi. ive come to appreciate the attributes of the diesel engine with this car. there is one hill on a side road here that the vw will climb faster than anything ive ever owned. you sound like a fan of manual transmissions; with the torque of any good diesel they are as easy to drive as automatics only more fun. drive the 2500 ctd and i think youll forget about the 1500 even being an option! check out the discussion forums at http//www.turbodieselregister.com for everything you need to know! looking for some help deciding between 3/4 ton gas/diesel. since i dont tow much my reflex is to go gas... just by the new hemi. but here are my parameters... 1. i live at 9500 and my commute takes me up and down the mountain. i want an engine/tranny combo thats well suited for this over the years. making this climb one or more times a day will a diesel last longer... all other things being equal 2. i want the best fuel efficiency so will diesel fare better in making the climb than gas 3. for performance and safety winter mountain driving i want a manual transmission. unless im wrong that rules out the new 1500. 4. i will on occaision tow equipment up to my place for excavation landscaping work etc. so basically i need a really good utility vehicle that i can count on for years. i dont have a religious preference gas or diesel im just looking to make the sensible choice. suggestions/comments thanks. .

denny wrote maybe we should just call you pinky-poo -- budd at least i aint a member of the sissy seat society.... denny thats true you are a member of the very wide seat society....... roy remember folks this is coming from the pudge that traded his little sports car for a pick up truck so his ass would fit. and a 2wd at that. you know some people have a height problem.. vbg denny now ya gotta get it right. i sold the z06 although fyi people that weigh in excess of 300 pounds have no problem driving them. sorry friend i really didnt realize you were that pudgy..... that means that one of your girth my furry friend could drive a vette with room to spare. that makes me what about 175-200 lbs shy of your acreage... anyway sue wanted a tahoe z-71. i jumped out of the snow plowing and didnt have any use for a 2500 4x4 diesel so that went with the business. i still wanted a pick up for use around the house and towing the atvs so the lightning was just the truck. i wish it was a 4x4 though. with regard to a height problem you are taller than me. only with your ears up. bfg i liked the way my version fitted my needs better.... bg ill take my bengles over your pats if you give me 17 points... you game denny your on!! if ya lose you have to use the following as a sig until next sunday. i am a 300 pound pink rabbit gbmfg roy and if you loose youll be pudgy-wudgy..... bg denny looks like ill be pudgy-wudgy for a week. but then again my pats beat the bengals. i dont know where your bengels were playing but they probably lost. bfg roy excuse me sir but how did you sign off this last post slipping up already i see.. g anyways it was a lot closer game than i thought it would be and im used to loosing so all is well......not!! theyve come a long ways since lewis took over last year. there is hope for the future.. because carson palmer is a mad bomber. hell throw the occasional int but they rarely hurt him once he got going at usc. look formore of the same with the bengals and also for him to be the rookie of the year. jeff long time usc fan later there pudge.. denny -- --- every time i hear the that old feeling comes back on; were waist deep in the big muddy and the big fool says to push on. - pete seeger 1967 --- .
