Q: well the dealer replaced my engine short block 4.7l and i still have a vibration. i still think it is in the suspension. seems to accentuate or even reverberate from the existing road surface. took my 2004 expedition over the same road and could feel a similar but less pronounced vibration in that vehicle. is there anyone that knows if this is to be expected from a 2003 could it be something in the suspension i dont want to go back to the dealer if this is just one of those things. on the otherhand it is annoying if it can or should be fixed. gary i have a 2003 ram with the off road package i hate the factory 20 wheels and dont really have any vibration except when the tires are stone cold after it sits out in the lot at work then it has one for a couple of miles. it has a fair amount at 45-50mph i drive the same way home almost every day and i just thought it was the pitiful roads but i forgot something at work one morning and went back and then headed home again on the same road and noticed it was a lot smoother and there wasnt nearly as much tire noise as there was when i would drive down the road with cold tires. on the other hand.. i had an odd shake in a car i used to have and the dealer repeatedly tried to find it. finally the pinion seal on the rear end started leaking and they replaced nearly everything in the rear except the axles. i dont remember what it cost me the car was out of warranty. it started leaking a month or so later and got bad pretty quickly. the shake wasnt changed a bit anyway and before i could get it back into the shop it started making noises like a bad u joint and it was bad. they replaced both u joints and the guts of the rear again free and it still shook. the pinion started oozing again and i went to a four wheel drive place that made driveshafts and built rear ends. the owner said almost instantly i bet the driveshaft is bent a little or is out of balance or both. he was right! it was bent a tiny bit and was not very well balanced in the first place. they had a strobe light thing that froze the shaft motion and it was plainly off. not a huge amount but enough to tear up the pinion and the rear u joint got beat on too. they cut me a new shaft and balanced it to some insane speed and off i went. it was better than it ever was nice and smooth. i took the car and my friend brought the old shaft to the dealer to see what they would do about the still leaking rear. the service manager drove it and said yep that must have been it! i was shocked amazed floored when they replaced the axle guts again for free. it was the only really hassle free dealings i ever had with them. the place that made the shaft and the service manager both guessed it was caused by hitting speedbumps. there were several huge ones in shopping centers near my house. the shaft had a tiny shiny spot right where the bend was. maybe the size of a dime. bdk .

just got back from an oil change on my durango and noticed the dealer forgot to put the oil filter cover back. i had to go back and the technician unwillingly went to the garage and brought it out. i know its just a stupid plastic cover but the next week i am having both differentials serviced and my confidence is shot. how often do these experts forget to put the parts back how common is this do i need a six star dealer lac .

gere gerevg@acmenet.net writes william voltage charging between 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts is normal. i think you have a voltage draw. something on your truck is staying on draining your battery. i agree 100% with this diagnosis. by repeatedly deep-cycling your battery the battery is destroying itself prematurely. a lead-acid batter has a finite number of charge/discharge cycles which ordinarily is a very large number literally thousands of cycles under normal use it should last several years. however under abnormal use where every recharge has to bring the battery up from a significant state of discharge the life-cycle is quite small in the hundreds. normal use for the sake of definition here means a battery that performs mainly one function starting the engine. this is a very brief a few seconds of discharge followed by a brief recharge and thereafter a general very low current float charge while the engine is running. what we suspect strongly suspect is that your battery is being subjected to a constant drain while the engine is off. this could be something as little as a trunk or glove compartment light that is remaining on. or possibly an aftermarket amplifier that is wired hot all the time. it could also be a defective alarm system. whatever the cause **something** is draining your battery. no not to the point that it wont start your vehicle but we do get to that point *eventually*. the point is once the engine is started the alternator is then recharging a considerably discharged battery for a long time several minutes or longer until it becomes fully recharged once again. this type of use definitely will cause premature battery failure. even something as insignificant as a radar detector will **eventually** run down your battery. no certainly not overnight but over a weekend or a long holiday weekend where you leave your vehicle parked the whole time the small steady discharge will add up. .

i checked my tire pressure on my trip to ny and noticed its rather hard to check your rear tire pressure and fill it with the current lay out of the air valves. i havent found anything specifically for these yet. except for rubber valve extenders--yuck! anyone know of a better set up i adjust my pressure pretty regularly as to whether im towing my 5rh wheeler or not. -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- ive found a little trick i use when hauling my 5th around to check for a low tire. i use an infrared thermometer. just point and click. it tells you the temperature of the sidewall if that is what you are pointing at and of course that doesnt tell you what the pressure is but when you take the temp of all the tires it tells a story. a low tire will generate more heat than one that is pressured up to where it should be. when traveling with the 5th you should be checking your pressure every 200 miles or so. what a pita if you have to get down and fiddle with the pressure guage cap etc... i use the model shown here http//www.radioshack.com/product.aspcatalog%5fname=ctlg&category%5fname=ctlg%5f010%5f005%5f001%5f000&product%5fid=22%2d325 or http//tinyurl.com/nznz for short. it is radio shack catalog # 22-325 and is on sale for $30 down from $50. works fine for me ymmv. -- fmb only one b in fmb thats a short money handy thing to have around. gotta get one! roy .
