Q: on sun 11 feb 2007 184335 -0700 nathan in montana montanajeeper@aol.com wrote please nathan it is you who is being ridiculous. this same mentality exists with the catholic church for which they have come under increased pressure to change their policies. you seem to be under the assumption there is absolutely nothing the churches can do to stop the sexual predator practices found within. these two incidents are simply not comparable. a priest sexually molesting an alter-boy is in no way comparable to a rare church member who violates church policy in the privacy of his own home. lets see.... you take away the right to discipline children in schools and threaten to throw the parents into jail if they discipline them yet you wonder why we need police to take the guns away from the children in the schools. a priest is told that to become a man of god he must devote his whole life to god there by not having any sexual relationships with women and you wonder why they molest young boys and girls. you tell a man he can have as many wives as he likes and once he marries them they may have sex with him as often as he likes then you wonder why young girls are being forced into marriage at an early age. lets see if the bible has anything to cover this. would perhaps the spare the rod spoil the child come to mind heres another one how about once a mans married when the bible mentions if he so much as looks after another woman with lust in his eyes he has allready commited adultry hmmm so that would imply that every wife he marries after the first hes commited adultry to the first wife. thus 7 wives means 6 counts of adultry to the first wife 5 counts of adultry to the second 4 to the third 3 to the 4th and 2 to the 5th while 1 to the 6th. in other words 7 wives 21 counts of adultry total. wow now if you count that case of adultry as a sin against god thats 21 acts of sin from 6 courses of action. but wait theres more. you see the bible also says a man has control over a womans body and a woman over the mans body thereby the man is the master of the wife and the wife is the master of her husband. the bible also clearly states that a person can not have 2 masters! if you attempt to have 2 masters the person will allways love one and hate the other so the bible also warns us that in-directly its impossible to love each wife equally. personally the only reason i can see why any man would want multiple wives is because hes gotten tired of the first one because he married someone he didnt love in the first place then decides rather than paying alimony and child support hell just find another woman to marry. actually in this day and age where a high school diploma means nothing to getting a job and many colledge degrees wont even land you a decent job i think the laws about raising children should be changed. child support should be changed to allow the parents to ensure that a child gets a colledge education and has a good start at earning at least $40000.00 / yr job before the child is placed on their on. of course for the fathers that refuse to have anything to do with raising their children let them get out of the entire thing by providing a trust fund for their children with the amount of $500000.00 that should ensure enough funds to get a decent colledge degree and start a decent life with a nice job. just let the police take care of it one case at a time huh you have yet to tell me specifically what it is that you expect the mormon church to do in order to check to make sure none of its members have more than one wife. the mere suggestion is silly. are you implying the mormon church doesnt know if its members has more than one wife good grief! so the pastor/whatever never sees his people outside the church never notices him kissing other women in public never notices him bringing children to school that isnt his etc.... does your church believe in praying for the sick ever visit a persons house when theyre too sick to come to church wow this is a mighty big house you got here for just your single wife and 2 children.... funny how those other 6 women and 15 children are allways at your house when we stop by to say hi to you.... their published policy states otherwise. unless you have something.......anything to substantiate that statement .
