Q: its not you......he will do jus fine. henry if it is a 4.7 or 318 i would rear gear rear axle with 4.56 gears do not let numbers scare you as od takes the bit out of it and it will pull it fine if you also add a aux tranny cooler. if it is a 360 try 4.10 gears with same aux cooler. are you insane re-gear a truck because of a 1-mile tow once a week is it me or is there an inordinate amount of over-thinking when it comes to towing in this group lately its a 22 boat not a d9 cat fer cryin out loud... hell be just fine with whatever he has. .

the dc axle used in the 4x4 1500 is the same one used in the wheel drive and the dakota. the axle design itself is not bad it is the low quality bearings they put in them to save about $5.00 per axle. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving tbone wrote tea except for the pos rear axle that the dakota and 1500 series rams use. not sure which axle they use in a dakota but they use a pretty stout axle in a 1500 4x4s a lot stronger than a pos axle that gm uses in their 1500 series trucks which can be traced back to the 70s for use in midsized cars before that started puting then in trucks too around 79. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-advice-buy-2001-4x4-ftopict124495.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=606463 .
