'98 Ram 1500 steering shaft U-joint question
From : rich s
Q: the clunk you are feeling is from the intermediate shaft as it is working in and out as the body is flexing on the frame. mine has been doing it off and on for about three years but now is doing it often enough to be annoying. denny i remember reading in the past where several of the regulars upgraded the u-joint in their steering shaft. what sensation/feedback do you experience when the steering shaft u-joint is going bad i dont experience any wandering or dead band like when the pitman arm or balljoints go bad but i do get a hollow clunking feel thru the steering wheel at times when turning. any help would be appreciated. rich .
