'98 Dakota nv3500 tranny problem !! I need a little advice

From : rediculous

Q: hey folks i am the proud owner of this black little v8 5 speedand here lies before me is its first ailment in its short life. today i noticed some stiffness in shifting - it seems like the tranny is not synchronizing right. the clutch pedal doesnt feel all that bad. i did notice some sounds coming from the shifting or gearbox area. i had to on occasion rev up to get the gears to mesh when i shift and that works fine. the gear shift at times would not come out of gear or into one. i have 180k on the the truck. do i have a tranny fix coming on here or do you think it could be the clutch pressure plate and t/o bearings or maybe a linkage problem i didnt have time to jack it up to get under there yet. any suggestions - i could do the clutch stuff but not work on the insides.. jules from se fla.... .

first thing to check would be the clutch itself. has it ever been replaced if not its due. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .

well - i drove it today and it gave me no problems - sort of like an omen - the end is coming soon i guess. lets start with the clutch is reasonable.. any suggestions on a new kit probably one that is a little stickier than the stock unit thanks on 07 jul 2004 142643 gmt max340@aol.compost max340 wrote first thing to check would be the clutch itself. has it ever been replaced if not its due. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .

i would change the transmission oil first and see if that helps. carl hey folks i am the proud owner of this black little v8 5 speedand here lies before me is its first ailment in its short life. today i noticed some stiffness in shifting - it seems like the tranny is not synchronizing right. the clutch pedal doesnt feel all that bad. i did notice some sounds coming from the shifting or gearbox area. i had to on occasion rev up to get the gears to mesh when i shift and that works fine. the gear shift at times would not come out of gear or into one. i have 180k on the the truck. do i have a tranny fix coming on here or do you think it could be the clutch pressure plate and t/o bearings or maybe a linkage problem i didnt have time to jack it up to get under there yet. any suggestions - i could do the clutch stuff but not work on the insides.. jules from se fla.... .
