from dick puter413atyahoo.com date 5/20/2004 1121 am central daylight time could someone post the 2 button 97 remote entry programing procedures please dick hi dick sorry to be so late in replying i dont hang out in here much anymore. heres a post i put up in 1999 hope it helps. from ramworker ramworker@aol.common.net. subject re keyless remote view complete thread 29 articles original format date 1999/10/11 hi terry i dont know if this will help or not. do you have an alarm system with the keyless entry is it a factory evs 2 system if so this is how it goes for my 96. 1. get in truck and make sure that the dome light is off. 2. turn the ignition to the on position. 3. turn the dome light on-off on-off on-off 4. turn the ignition off note all of the above must be completed within ten seconds. the alarm should chirp three times to indicate that it has entered the programming mode. 5. press the lock button i believe you hit it twice when you have two remotes i have three so i only hit the button once on each of the remotes with at least a one second delay make sure that the system responds to both remotes. 6. turn the ignition back on and off again to exit the programming mode. 7. check to make sure that the system responds to both remotes if not try again. the instructions for mine indicated that the last remote should have the lock button pushed a second time but everytime i did that the last remote would be inoperative so after doing all three of my remotes in that fashion and all three i did each of the three last to make sure there wasnt a problem with an individual remote failing to work after that i gave up on the second button push. all three worked fine after that. this procedure will also eliminate the missing second remote from ever operating your keyless entry again. my dealer was willing to do the programming for free but i did buy the remote from them. there are other systems which will require the scan tool to program so you may be stuck. best regards robert subject keyless remote from terry & dana hunter dahunter@infoave.net date fri 08 october 1999 1157 pm edt message-id 37febd1c.72683b3@infoave.net i have just bought a used 98 dodge dakota sport. it had only one remote when i bought it. i needed another one but the dodge company wanted $35.00 for just one and then i would have to have them reprogram both the old and new one. they said that only took 5 min. to reprogram them but they would still have to charge for an hour labor. i found a remote that i paid only $5.00 for and its exactly the same kind as the one that came with my truck. now i need for someone to tell me how to reprogram both of my remotes now.. also where is the receiver for the keyless entry located thank you for any help you can give. terry note this post may contain misspellings grammatical errors disorganized sentence structure or may entirely lack a coherent theme. these elements are natural to the process of writing and will only add to the overall beauty of the post. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ .
