'97 Ram 1500 Compass
From : adnovak
Q: yes weve seen it before cadillacs chevrolets dodges seems to be almost common. the last fuel pump i put on my 82 ramcharger was like $15.00. the fuel pump for my sisters 96 van was $255.00 part only. replace the pump. dodge ram 5.2 4x4 49000 miles....dead. i can start this thing up and drive it for only 10 miles then i lose all fuel into the fuel rail. shut it off sit 15-20 minutes start it back up drive exactly 10 more miles and it does it all over again. throws up various codes124351 so i replaced the coilcode 43 per the shop didnt work. now they say fuel pump$230! but i ask how can it work fine for exactly 10 miles and then die and re-birth itself got no answer and dont care to spend over $200 to try it and have the same thing all over again i already ate $35 on a coil. unplugged the battery to reset codes and #12 is still coming up constant but 43 is gone as well as 51. the only thing i do know is when it died again and was popping & farting in the middle of the road i got pissed and happened to have a can of ether which i sprayed into the airbox and amazingly i was able to rev the piss out of it until i stopped blasting ether in it. checked the fuel rail again and got just a dribble with a ton of air. let it sit runs fine 10 milesexactly and the fun starts all over again. why will it run for exactly 10 miles before it screws up i cant believe what a fuel pump for this thing costs either! wow! btw it has a half-tankful of fuel in it so the air in the rail has got me obscenely baffled. anyone else ever encounter this kind of weirdness in a dodge before or any vehicle for that matter .

whats a k&n have to do with the trip computer/compass i just installed my k&n last night. trip computer worked fine in 20 miles of driving last night. but today it only works when the engine isnt running. does the cooling air temp sensor also feed the trip computer .

probably not a lot of smog stuff if any on a military truck the only smog stuff on this truck is from the oil dripping on the exhaust manifold. - -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

its interesting to note that the mopar engines manual recommends using 340-360 manifold on the smaller port 318. what page and what edition recomends this im curious how you think its an outright recommendation. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

you should have looked for two way tickets. i know that it sounds funny but two way tickets sell for much less than one way. a one way ticket from nc to nj was over $500 while a two way to the same airports with a saturday stay over was about $260 so i bought the two way and discarded the return ticket. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving exactly. when we fly out to ca from nc the wife and i have yet to pay over $500 for both tickets...round trip and thats almost less than gas and eats if you drive. its all in the timing and advance notice. try www.orbitz.com or southwest airlines. thanks larry i did try southwest nothing doing there i didnt think about orbitz. what i did was expedia got two tickets for less than $500 one way not too bad i think for short notice. were leaving sunday to pick my new to me dually. im looking forward to driving back to dallas from portland oregon over the rockies in the winter time! sounds like fun to me ill post a link to the truck later so you guys can give me a hard time or congratulate me as you see fit! thanks for your suggestions yes even dennys and t bones! robert .
