Q: sorry about that im new to this group posting. there is a rubber seal that sets above the fuel heater that the fuel fitter attaches to. to replace remove your fuel filter then using a wide blade screwdriver remove the threaded insert that the fuel filter attaches to the heater will drop down swap out the gasket $1.90 and snug it back up. i probably wasted $20 in fuel putting off the repair for a 20 minute job. my seal was completely flat and hard so i would imagine most folks are by now i bought the truck new and change the fuel filter every 15k or so i will make sure to resnug this everytime from now on. 92 250 4x4 ctd extended cab 160k on the odometer banks turbo upgrade installed a year ago. 06 3500 4x4 ctd quad cab longbed dually chris lockcuff choctaw oklahoma well tell us what you found please. so we will know what to look for when its our turn. -- christopher a. young you cant shout down a troll. you have to starve them. . disregard i figured it out..... chris im leaking fuel from above the heater element that sets above the fuel filter has anyone removed this heater before. the only thing i see that holds it on is the shaft that the filter attaches to and it is slotted i just dont want to torque on something if there is more to the removal. thanks chris 95 w250 4x4 extended cab 06 3500 4x4 4 door long bed.... .

lugnut wrote didnt mean to step on any toes but you didnt ... not mine anyway. reasonable success. the original rope type seal was a pos and was eventually replaced by a 2 piece metal seal with a lip to better control the oil. again ... this was a very long time ago but the rope sel was the recommendation to fix the problem. if i remember correctly the original seal was rubber. it only blew oil out the rear seal when i started the car. once it got o to idle no problems. part of the equation for a street engine is to use a 10w30 i remember that i did run 10w30 to try and stop the blow out issue. no luck. no matter now ... that car and engine have been recycled and pieces of it are spread out in newer cars. - craig c. .

i wasnt saying you were wrong -- i was just elaborating a bit about the various incarnations of the la engine and provided a link for the op if he wishes to read more. you could be correct about the origin of that la stands for. it certainly makes sense along the same thought as the b vs rb engines. bryan budd cochran wrote its low a because the deck height was lowered the poly 318 was an a high deck engine engine. other than that id like to know where the heck i was wrong as i said the same things as you and allpar and even corrected a typo. budd bryan wrote ive also heard these engines called lightweight a engines but ive always known them as late a engines... cant cite any authority about that from mopar. in any case the la engine started in 64 with the 273 the 318 became an la engine in 67 the 340 was added in 68 and the 360 in 71. the last one was made for 02 model years. more detailed info is here http//www.allpar.com/mopar/318.html bryan budd cochran wrote you have the la low deck a series engine and they will fit. the a series engines were the early 1950s hemis and the polyhead engines and the la series includes the 273-318-340-360 engines the 3.2- 3.6- 3.9 l magnums and the 8l v-10. budd redhornet wrote hedman headers references a set of ceramic headers that will fit the a-type engine for my year. 360 4bbl how do i determine what the a-type is and whether i have it. it does not seem to be vin # related according to the vin decoders i located via google for my year. automatic transmission maybe .
