97 Dodge 2500 Cummins rough auto transmission shift
From : brian a irwin
Q: hello. i have owned the vehicle for 2+ years. the transmission had always shifted smoothly through all the gears. i few months ago i needed new cooling lines and also decided to replace with synthetic atf. although not a big deal ive noticed that with light acceleration the shift from 2nd to 3rd gear is a bit hard. much like a jump instead of a soft shift. with hard acceleration its not noticeable. my question is do i have a problem that needs adjusting is the synthetic oil more slippery allowing the valves to operate more easily the transmission shop said they tighted the bands etc. should i worry will this cause undue wear & tear and bring back to the transmission repair shop or is it something i shouldnt worry about thanks in advance for your responses. .

amsoil atf. i have used amsoil products in all my vehicles for years without problem. seems to be good stuff. lets see... before the fluid was changed to amsoil the transmission was okay. since the change it isnt. why not go back to what you used before seems pretty simple to me. .

general knowledge is that the dodge trannys require the real dodge fluid.... im not a transmission specialist but the hearsay i believe. theyre marginal enough that to fool with the dodge formula might be a problem. lord knows ive spent enough on dodge fluid........ good luck sam -- toys diesel bmw motorcycle homebuilt electric motorcycle gold wing trike honda gyros dodge diesel dualie fiat osca 1500 cabriolet w3cyo/r 145.49 224.40 443.300 mhz. repeaters. hello. i have owned the vehicle for 2+ years. the transmission had always shifted smoothly through all the gears. i few months ago i needed new cooling lines and also decided to replace with synthetic atf. although not a big deal ive noticed that with light acceleration the shift from 2nd to 3rd gear is a bit hard. much like a jump instead of a soft shift. with hard acceleration its not noticeable. my question is do i have a problem that needs adjusting is the synthetic oil more slippery allowing the valves to operate more easily the transmission shop said they tighted the bands etc. should i worry will this cause undue wear & tear and bring back to the transmission repair shop or is it something i shouldnt worry about thanks in advance for your responses. .
