Q: suddenly without warning stormin mormon exclaimed 12-dec-06 1137 am the first thing came to mind since its a 4 x 4 the front differential may be dry. look for a fill plug some where on the front differential. my non-dodge truck takes 80 w90 gear oil. one auto parts place had a gear oil container with a pump so i could pump the fluid up from under the truck. worth a try. i know i had to top off my front differential twice a year on my last truck. to reach this you have to jack up the front end and lay on your back. on my non-dodge the plug was towards the rear of the vehicle. it had a gasket to seal so it was obviously a plug not a mounting bolt. you didnt mention trouble with the power steering and it may well be manual steering. but on a 4 x 4 its probably power steering. check the fluid while youre under the hood bonnet for uk speakers. i cant remember if manual steering gear boxes have fluid but id expect so. its been a long long time since i worked on anything manual steering. this would only be a problem during turning id think. thanks. it does have power steering and theres no problem there but probably not a bad idea to check fluid levels anyway. as hot as it is here its possible that there may be greater evaporation. it sounds more like a looseness or misalignment than a dryness but i can check that too. thanks! jodi .

toofarmike wrote my 1967 dodge d100 pick-up has been plagued with electrical problems since last summer. it started with a strange smell i found out later was the amp meter burning that would last for about 10 minutes every other day 2 get rid of the amp meter. you will most likely need to replace firewall bulkhead connectors and factory fuse block as they are corrodided/melted. link below shows how to bypass amp gauge on 70s dodge trucks should work on yours. i did this about 4 years ago to 2 79s and have had no problems since. instead of fusable links you can use a slow blow fuses. http//www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml .

the fan on my 02 durango doesnt work on the first three settings. you have to turn the fan on max to get heat then it blows like crazy. the max setting for the fan is the only one that works. heat works fine ists just the fan that is acting up. it seems weird because i only have 32k on the vehicle and 90% of those miles are highway miles from long trips down south where i was using the ac. -- message posted via carkb.com http//www.carkb.com/uwe/forums.aspx/dodge-truck/200612/1 .

my right front tire pretty suddenly wore out on the outer tred row. the truck was pulling right. i put the never used spare on the right front and the truck wanted to go slightly left. had the alignment checked and everything supposedly was within specs except cross camber which was ..7 left +.5/right -.2 with a notice in red that this is an unsafe condition. camber is not adjustable. place that checked alignment said pressures were wrong and changed them to 35--but the placard says 41 and the 245/75/16 tires say max 44. steering felt heavy and definitely pulling left. i ran pressure back up to 41 and it felt normal. took it to another place to check alignment and their cross camber was still .7 but shifted more to the negative--left +.4 / right -.3. the rest of the readings were within specs but considerably different than the first place. i had a near empty gas tank but 210 pounds of sand in short box bed over rear axle for ice stability. also noticed left front of vehicle seemed about one inch lower than right while left rear was only about 1/4 in lower. and i couldnt understand how - .3 would cause outside tred wear--i thought it would be inside wear. so my questions are is this really unsafe where does camber come from--control arms the front drive mechanism there must be a way to change it if necessary did sand change the alignment why is the left front low i have the service manual but it doesnt really say a lot about this. any help would be appreciated. .
