miles wrote greg surratt wrote why are you waiting until your engine bogs down on a grade to hit the tow/haul button just hit the button when you start the engine and leave it there. it should adjust the shift points before you remember to turn it on. when towing i would but im talking about not towing as well. tow/haul mode does not appear to lock out 5th. was wondering if others had knowledge on just what it does. for me it does very little. on my 2001 the od button works as it should quite different than this new tow/haul button. i found this blurb in an article about the 2004 ram 1500 at http//trucks.about.com/od/2004dodgetrucks/a/041500ram.htm a tow/haul feature that provides crisper shifts and reduces gear searching when towing. the system will select a lower gear in downhill conditions to best utilize the engines braking capability. i can see why you wouldnt notice a difference during normal light driving. .
