brian wrote on my driverside wheel where the axle connects to the wheel for my 4-wheel drive the u-joint in that vnion has rvsted vp and is very very loose abovt ready to fall apart. i only have 50580 miles on this trvck and most of it is highway. i only vse the 4wd when i get stvck in snow or mvd and never on dry pavement. anyone else having this problem some how i felt this wovld happen when i fist changed my oil and saw no grease fitting on any of the joints. thanks in advance. lots of typo issue in this post. factory joints do not come with grease fittings and the bad thing about a dodge is that they are always turning even in 2wd and if you have big tires it can shorten the life of the joints. ujoints are not constant speed when flex past 3 degrees which increase ujoint stress under high torque loads. you can replace them with aftermarket joints with a grease fitting in the caps but is joint is being over stressed it may not help much. my 89 burb has 175k on it and the front axle joints are still fine but it does have autolocking hubs that completely disengage front axle when in 2wd that your dodge does not do. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-bad-joints-2003-ram-2500-4x4-ftopict138186.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=669811 .

on wed 14 sep 2005 025621 gmt ramman@dodgecity.cc wrote having to go out of my way as i did i grabbed 2 cans. i believe i paid $5.75 a can + close to a buck in sales tax. welcome to texas however as long as 1 seems to have done the trick the 2nd can will go into the flammables storage cabinet for another day. mine too is a 97 5.2 l cc/slt pickup but only 80500 miles on her. anyone know when we should do the timing belt also is the engine interference or non-interference put over 200k on my first engine and never changed the belt. beekeep .

truck has just had batteries replaced and cable connectors replaced. problem still persists that after glow plug light goes out i engage the starter and the voltage drops to @8 volts and a clicking sound is heard. i can continue to try to start it and it will start after a few times. it started a while back but has gotten progressively worse. pep boys checked the electricals twice and said everything is fine including the starter. what are they missing dont know if you checked the cable lug at the starter. anyway there is a rubber boot to keep all the crap off the connection it has a drain hole that gets plugged with crap and corrosion sets in. roy .
