ive posted a problem here about my ram2500 that the dealer screwed up. any way i went out and bought a astray code reader very good one helped me fix my 98 diesel jetta. come to find out that dodge did not release info to allow use diy to scan our trucks. what you bought is an obd-ii on-board diagnostics version 2 code reader. your 94 truck is not obd-ii compliant - hence the reader wont work. you need a code reader thats compatible with chrysler sci. turning the ignition key on and off several times. im still try to read the blinking engine light.. this page explains the procedure and identifies all the codes http//www.dodgeram.org/tech/gas/trouble/pcmfaultcode.htm codes on diesel rams this age. it plugs into the cigarette lighter. any input on this one completely useless... theres no useful information you can discern from the cigaretter lighter and unless it also hooks up to the aldl connector and is just powering itself from the cigarette lighter its only purpose is to bleed money from your wallet. whats more... your problem is one of fuel delivery which on a 94 12v cummins is entirely mechanical - nothing electrical involved so i doubt any codes will be set that will help you diagnose the problem. .

john wrote i instaled a new rear brake cylinder. the old one had a worn boot that let moisture in and caused it to burst. i also put on new shoes and machined the drums. the problem is the rear system appears to have ran dry of brake fluid. i am unable to get any fluid to the back wheels by pumping the pedal so i cant bleed it. the e-brake works fine. is there a valve somewhere on the system that closed to protect the front brakes after the rear brakes failed its the combination/proportioning valve. it sounds like its working as designed. the brakes are seprated by pront and rear circuits. but are connected at the valve. if one circuit should happen to lose pressure the valve shuttles over and closes off that circuit so you dont lose all your fluid. that should also cause the brake light in the dash to light. you have to reset the valve so the shuttle is in the center again. unfortunatly the factory service manual doesnt explain how to do this. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1983 gmc jimmy - mountain beater 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .

they all sound the same. change the oil and put in 10w-30 and it should take care of the noise. it seems the 5w-30 it comes with is too thin for this engine. bill wrote i have a new 1500 with the hemi and at idle it sounds like a diesel not sure if it is the lifters or something else. has anyone else with a new hemi noticed this noise. i have less than 1200 miles on the truck and if it isnt a normal sound for a new hemi then i guess i am about to become very acquainted with my dealers service department and have to read my lemon law booklet. .
